For the next step in this crazy adventure called life, I am super excited to announce that I am joining the awesome Quinten Selhorst (Co-Founder felyx) as full-time Partners at EWOR ! Why am I doing this? From the beginning, EWOR was built by founders for founders. This is something that really resonates with myself. I have accumulated a lot of experience working across multiple industries and building companies along the way. The entrepreneurial journey is not easy and I have failed more times than I have succeeded, its a hard path to take. What has kept me going is my curiosity and drive to solve meaningful problems. When I first met the team at EWOR I really connected with them on their mission of helping founders to build the companies that really matter. In joining EWOR I can start to pay back from my own past success to make a valuable contribution to our future. What is EWOR? At EWOR, we are rebels, nerds, and visionaries, who empower rebels, nerds and visionaries to do their thing: Building tech companies with global impact. EWOR Fellows have raised Europe’s biggest-ever pre-seed by a first-time founder, had multiple 9-figure exits prior to joining the Fellowship with their new startups, and collectively created over €420 million in company value (in less than 2 years!). I am joining a stellar team with people like Quinten Selhorst who founded felyx, which raised €80 million and grew to 500 employees before being acquired. Daniel W. Dippold, a mathematician (Cambridge) and the founder of Sigma Squared Society, and two AI/ML companies; Florian Huber, who founded United Domains (acquired by 1&1) and neubau kompass AG (market leader); Paul H. Müller, who co-founded Adjust and grew it to €120 million ARR in just seven years (acquired for €1.2 billion); Alexander Grots, co-founder of ProGlove (acquired for €500 million); as well as our operational leadership team, which also includes Berna Epik, who built Novid20 (acquired); Lian Boerma (2 x Stanford master degrees); and Marcel J. Vogel, a serial entrepreneur and material scientist/quantum physicist. I am both excited and humbled in equal measure to be a part of this team at EWOR. Given the quality of the people and how high we are aiming together, this is going to be an incredible journey! Full press release here: https://lnkd.in/e36NWFjc

BACKENDER WANTED! About the job Looking for a talented Senior Lead Backend Python Engineer to join our new product studio in Amsterdam. Our studio only does internal ideation, we do not work for clients. Exploring the conversational fronteer of AI in both the physical domain (hardware) and online (apps/websites) in various experimental B2C executions, each tailored to different age-ranges. Our small team has already started building some pretty cool things behind the scenes, and we need someone who lives and breathes robust backend solutions and thrives in a fast-paced, innovative environment. Amsterdam (or nearby) based only – no remote from far-flung corners - please don't respond or apply if this isn't you - absolutely no exceptions - also no recruiters please. What’s in it for you? - Be part of a small, sharp-witted team working on tech that’s just as disruptive as it is exciting (hybrid role) - A startup vibe without layers of bureaucracy - Participation in every spin-out that you were involved in What we need from you: - Solid **Python** expertise is mandatory - Strong experience building and scaling **REST APIs** using FastAPI & Swagger - Knowledge of **Docker** for containerization and orchestration - Comfortable with **data validation** frameworks like **Pydantic** - Experience working with **Postgres** databases - An understanding of **sockets** to enable real-time interactions - Familiarity with **Flask** and similar frameworks - Experience with creating and maintaining unit tests & pipelines - Ideally, experience integrating or interacting with **LLMs (Large Language Models)** - Nice to have: some experience with IoT, micro controllers and hardware - Available ASAP, and could see yourself sticking around for the long haul What’s the work like? - Building up scalable backend systems and refining them to handle growth and complexity - Creating clean, maintainable code - Collaborating directly with frontend devs, other backend devs and AI experts so everything flows smoothly from button click to backend action - Problem-solving challenges that pop up when integrating data from multiple sources (and LLMs!) into a seamless user experience - We're currently looking for our new studio space in Amsterdam so we can have a place to call home - so while remote work is absolutely encouraged, we would also like to share a space together so we can feel like a team, so this is a hybrid on-site/remote role If you (or someone you know) would like to be part of a motivated, lean team working on cutting-edge tech, let's talk! Team members: Erik Borra Mark Hinch myself and a few more to be announced soon.

It's official!! 👀 I am joining Antler's residency as part of their 3rd Amsterdam based cohort! 😁 And it's really exciting as Antler is one of the biggest early-stage investors out there, backing exciting new projects that are in pre-seed and even pre-team stages! Being completely solo and bootstrapped means that this residency is particularly interesting to me as they will open their entire network of builders, founders, VCs and partner organizations to help kickstart my journey. Starting today and for the coming 14 weeks I will be working full-time with them and focussing on the following: 𝟭. 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗰𝗼-𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿! Working solo is fun but there's only so much you can do alone. Having a co-founder will help me split tasks that I know I'm less good at. Which is why I'm now officially looking for a partner in Sales and/or Marketing to come join me! The main goal of the residency is networking and I'm confident I'll be meeting amazing people the coming weeks but if you're reading this and are passionate about Web3, are in Sales or Marketing and want to build a new venture from the ground up please send me a message too!!! 𝟮. 𝗚𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 Right now I'm bootstrapping, meaning that all the money that goes into building the company comes from my own pocket. But if I can build a proper team before the end of the residency with at least 1 other co-founder (from inside or outside of the residency), I have a chance to get in front of Antler's Investment Committee and pitch truehandle to them! That is a shot at a possible 100k pre-seed investment!!! Exciting weeks ahead no doubt. Let's make the most out of them!! 🚀

Over the past weeks this post by Paul Graham on "founder-mode" led to a lot of interesting discussions with start- and scale-up founders. For me this really is a about the different phases a startup company is going through and what this means for management-requirements and the super powers (and ambitions) of the founders. I see lots of founders struggling with this topic because this also has to do with ego, personal development, self-reflection, etc. Often this is a topic that they can not easily discuss with others (maybe not even with co-founders). This is one of those topics where it can be really helpful to have a mentor, coach or maybe reach out to your (angel) investors. They can really help. The longer you wait with this topic the more damage will be done. By the way; I added a couple of other interesting reads in the comments that might be worth checking if you recognize this topic! https://lnkd.in/e5eqEZNM

𝐈𝐬 𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝗶𝐭? Just recently came across the mentioned post from Mads Oscar Haumann pointing out that nice little fact that scaling for profit as the sole goal is often shortsighted. Companies like VanMoof could have taken a step back to focus on product quality, customer satisfaction, and sustainability. Addressing not just profit but also environmental impact as well as customer needs, they might have had the chance to avoid a downfall and turn into a more long-lasting business impact and success. 𝗛𝗼𝘄? Prioritizing the triple bottom line - 🌱 planet, 🙌 people, 💸 profit - offers a more holistic approach towards business success, leads to greater resilience and focus on social and environmental impact. At Studio Y-si, we take that balanced TBL approach to create regenerative futures together with the brands and allowing them to thrive without endless growth. 𝘿𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙧 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙩𝙝𝙧𝙚𝙚 𝙋𝙨? 7 November: AI Builders Meetup for nerds that like to go deep and technical. Every first Thursday of the month at StartDock Amsterdam. Featured speakers: 🗣 Unstract (remote talk + QA) Unstract provides LLM Whisperer, one of the world's best PDF parsing APIs, capable of extracting handwritten documents, checkboxes, images, tables, and more exactly as they are. With this clean unstructured data at hand, why not explore their flagship product, Unstract? With this No-code tool for LLM structured extraction building data processing ETL pipelines has never been easier. 🗣 July Jagt The story of Social Technology Lab, founded by four close friends united by a shared belief. Having known each other for years, they recognize AI's immense potential but feel that use cases with true positive impact remain underexplored. Their mission is to change this by creating a lab to experiment with cutting-edge tech for the public good. They aim to inspire fellow builders by sharing their projects, revealing their journey, and showcasing their future direction. https://lnkd.in/eg5eyteP 🗣 Kaspar Rothenfusser Providing LLMs with effective ways to navigate large dataspaces of real-world objects presents numerous challenges. Semantic embeddings struggle to capture non-semantic relations of real-world objects and obscure their true meaning through learned (unexplainable) dimensions. Knowledge graphs, while useful, are difficult to scale, maintain, and populate, inherently limiting flexibility. Thoughtful-Oasis aims to combine the best of all worlds in its LLM-first Data Navigation Framework. By using domain-specific embedding vectors with explainable dimensions, both LLMs and humans can navigate millions of real-world objects through parameters relevant to the domain at hand. https://lnkd.in/e8SYtHDw 🗣 Roger Ter Heide ImproVive will demonstrate their technology for creating lifelike virtual characters. They use game development software, language models, and information retrieval to build interactive digital humans for training and storytelling purposes. Their system combines voice recognition, text-to-speech, and 3D character models to enable natural conversations. The presentation will explain how their platform generates dynamic dialogue, recognizes the user's position in virtual environments, and allows for quick adjustments without coding. If you're interested in using interactive digital characters for applications like info displays, education or healthcare you should not miss this one! https://improvive.com/ TICKETS (be fast, we usually sell out) 🎫 https://lnkd.in/edTYWfUg

Structuring processes is essential for scaling. Yet few founders like to do it. So to all the startups and scaleups in my network 👉 few people are as good as Tessa at doing exactly this: structuring processes to help your company scale! Today you can reach out to Tessa and check if you're a good fit to have har onboard as fractional COO. I'd definitely recommend her to every founding team who's planning to scale and wants help for the organisation of operations from an expert, freeing up time for the founders for external tasks such as sales or investors relationship.

My first Portuguese podcast! 😍 Well, I wasn't speaking in Portuguese but still. Very excited to share this, and it was an absolute pleasure to meet Ana Mikaela. The Portuguese startup and investor ecosystem is early stage but has so much potential and I've already met so many interesting people taking since moving here. 🦄 Some of the highlights we spoke about; 1 - The unconventional way of how I landed my first ever job in the sector as an assistant to an informal investor which changed the path to my career. 2 - How much more difficult I think being a founder is to being a VC (though I never started my own fund... yet). 3 - What VC Coaching is and why it's important with The VC Coach 4 - My tips for starting founders; focus, people and do it. 5 - How to be a succesful zebra (=sustainable alternative to unicorn) 🦓 Thank you Ana Mikaela Silva for giving me the platform and hope to see you in Ericeira, Porto, Lisboa or elsewhere again soon! #startups #portugal #investing #unicorns #zebra #portuguesestartupecosystem

Are large language models like ChatGPT quietly becoming the operating systems of modern work? In the this episode of Discover the Ordinary, my first special guest, Bob Gravestijn and I compared today’s AI tools to blockchain. Blockchain promised a revolution but often stumbled—too complex, too slow to adopt. LLMs? They’re different. They’re seamless, already part of how we work, and feel more like a foundation than just another tech tool. We also tackled big questions: Why do “big AI projects” often fall short? And how can businesses experiment with AI without the hype—and still see results? This is the first half of our conversation, with more to come next week. Youtube: https://lnkd.in/ems39_A4 Spotify: https://lnkd.in/eFpctqnf Let me know: how is AI changing how you approach work?

Using varnish enterprise with their magento offer, is a very good investment. One of the problems of magento’s varnish implementation, is its very conservative approach to clearing cache. For a busy website that will mean nothing ever remains in varnish cache. Varnish enterprise gives y-key based softpurge - or stale-while-revalidate. This means for a grace period, one can serve stale content when varnish gets the update content from magento.
