A carbon credit represents one tonne of carbon dioxide (or equivalent greenhouse gases) reduced, avoided or removed from the #atmosphere. There are two types of markets for carbon credits: 1️⃣1. Compliance 2️⃣2. Voluntary The Accounting Standards Board (AcSB) staff conducted research on potential approaches to account for carbon credits and other environmental credits. These slides provide an overview of the AcSB staff’s findings, including feedback from users and other national standard-setters on the different approaches. Understanding the #economic impacts of #climate change is crucial because it shows us that taking action to address climate change isn’t just about saving the planet- it’s also about safeguarding our economic well-being. For example, extreme heat will significantly lower the outdoor working capacity of India’s labour workforce in the next three decades, putting at risk, the country’s economic growth. Hence, it's important to chart out mitigation and adaptation measures. These standards offer a #roadmap for organizations of all sizes. #ISO59004 establishes the core vocabulary and principles of the circular economy, providing a foundation for understanding and implementation. Building on this foundation, #ISO59010 guides businesses through transitioning their business models and value networks towards a more circular approach.
