🚀 Exciting News from Robco! 🚀 Robco, the Munich-based robotics startup, has just opened its new headquarters in the heart of the city. The grand opening featured notable guests including TV investor Frank Thelen and German Finance Minister Christian Lindner, who both helped cut the ribbon. After raising €39 million in a successful funding round, Robco is on a mission to become the European leader in modular robotics for small and medium-sized businesses. The new 1600-square-meter facility will support the production of up to 1800 robots per year, with the capacity to double its workforce by year-end. The new HQ, a former furniture store on Augustenstraße, combines office and production spaces, significantly shortening the development-to-production timeline. CEO Roman Hölzl emphasizes the importance of this integration: "This new headquarters marks a significant milestone for us." With a focus on modular, affordable, and connected robotics, Robco aims to make robotics accessible to the Mittelstand. Lindner praised the initiative, highlighting the need for startups willing to take entrepreneurial risks. Thelen echoed this sentiment, calling Robco a "beacon" of high-end robotics made in Germany. Backed by prominent investors including Sequoia, Robco’s modular robots target applications like machine loading, palletizing, and pick & place, leveraging technology developed at the Technical University of Munich. Automation makes manager satisfied 95% of DACH companies are satisfied with their company's level of automation to date, 29% are even "very" satisfied. 100 and 500 automated processes are the basis for more than half (54%) of these high values. A good nine percent of companies have already automated more than 500 processes, while just under 17 percent have automated between 50 and 100. These are the findings of the latest "Intelligent Process Automation 2024" study. The C-level is the most satisfied with the level of automation, both in IT and beyond: 46% of the relevant decision-makers are "very satisfied". In IT management and the IT department, the figure is only 20 percent. The vast majority of respondents from IT management, IT departments and specialist departments are at least "fairly satisfied" with the current status of automation. End-to-end process automation is comparatively high in the companies surveyed: 21% say it is "very high", 35% say it is "high" and 29% say it is "fairly high". The study also highlights the importance of artificial intelligence in the context of process automation: 73% already use AI methods such as ML, natural language processing or generative AI. Automatic Onboarding of Machines As you know, I already talked a lot about what is needed to onboard industrial assets during an Industry 4.0 project, which is still the biggest challenge for many. OPC UA Companion Specifications play an important role in this process, since they standardize the machines' information model. The VDMA, Europe's largest consortium, where over 600 companies are working on these OPC UA Companion Specifications in countless working groups, just published an article on this topic.
