Leiden University’s commitment to recognizing and rewarding open science practices comes at a critical juncture as the Netherlands grapples with significant budget cuts to higher education and research. It highlights the importance of innovative approaches to maintain the country’s position as a knowledge hub. With funding from Open Science NL we are going to develop a roadmap for integrating #openscience into the strategic priorities and #HR policies of Universiteit Leiden. The methodology will be piloted by CWTS | Leiden University and several sections of the Instituut Psychologie | Universiteit Leiden, and hopefully rolled out beyond our Leiden University - Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences as well. Happy holidays! #AcademiaInMotion
🎉 Leiden University has received a €50,000 grant from Open Science NL to develop a comprehensive roadmap for embedding open science into the strategic priorities of its institutes, while aligning these strategies with human resource (HR) policies. This initiative is set to transform how open science practices are recognized and rewarded within the university. The first phase of this project will include pilot implementations at the Center for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS | Leiden University) and sections of the Institute of Psychology | Leiden University within the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences (FSW). Insights from these pilots will inform a broader rollout across other faculties and institutes. National coordinator Inge van der Weijden (CWTS) states: “The transition to open science requires a cultural shift that we can only achieve together. We build on the strong foundation of the national Recognition and Rewards program, leveraging CWTS's state-of-the-art expertise and network in open science.” Read more 👉 https://lnkd.in/eAUDKFgb #OpenScience #RecognitionAndRewards #StrategicHR #AcademiaInMotion #LeidenUniversity Renske Valk Natalie den Breugom de Haas Cathelijn Waaijer Ludo Waltman Marieke Adriaanse Sarah de Rijcke Hanneke Hulst Karlijn Hermans Why is this important? 🌎 Open science aims to make research more accessible, inclusive, and trustworthy, creating a more transparent and collaborative scientific community. 📍Clear strategic focus of institutes and teams, and clarity on the role of open science within these strategies, are crucial for understanding what activities and outcomes academic staff should be recognized and rewarded for. 🚀 HR integration: The roadmap explores how the strategy and the open science aspects can be concretely integrated into HR policies.
