  • 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗻𝗲𝘄𝘀 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿!   Exciting news from Nobian, one of our valued partners at Battery Competence Cluster - NL (BCC-NL). Nobian is leading the way in sustainability as the first major company in the Netherlands to finalize a tailored agreement with the government to reduce CO2 emissions.   Their salt production sites in Delfzijl and Hengelo will transition entirely to electricity, supported by a €185 million subsidy. This shift will result in a remarkable annual CO2 reduction of 525 kilotons, saving 300 million cubic meters of gas—equivalent to the consumption of a city like The Hague.   📍 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗶𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗕𝗖𝗖-𝗡𝗟 While this specific agreement focuses on industrial electrification and hydrogen storage in salt caverns, stationary batteries play a vital role in complementary sustainability initiatives. For example, these efforts align with projects under the 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗱, targeting the same industrial sites to enhance energy storage and efficiency.   Nobian's commitment sets an inspiring example, showing how industrial players can fast-track climate goals through innovation and collaboration.   🌱 𝗙𝘂𝗻 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁: Nobian’s products—derived from salt—serve as essential inputs for industries producing fuel, batteries, plastics, and medicines.   Let’s celebrate this milestone and continue fostering a greener, more sustainable industrial future together! The anode materials travel far distances before ending up in the electronics we use every day, which is negative (We like battery puns!) for the environment. In most current batteries, the anode is made out of graphite. More than 70% of graphite mining occurs in China and over 90% of the world’s mined graphite is processed there. In other words, the world is dependent on a single country for battery parts, for now. This is where silicon comes in. After oxygen, it is the most abundant material in the earth's crust, allowing it to be mined worldwide without great depletion or dependence on a single country. LeydenJar is spearheading the process required to convert silicon into anodes. While mass scale-up continues to be required, the conversion of silicon into silicon anodes provides many new opportunities within the battery and electronics industry. Interested in how we manage to convert this abundant silicon material into functional anodes? Check out our technology page below and stay tuned for part 2 next week! https://lnkd.in/eqMAbeWC
