One Donation; Twice the Impact Every success story begins with someone believing in their potential and offering an opportunity. Chineye’s journey is a powerful reminder of this truth. 5 years ago, she was on the brink of giving up and losing her parents’ support. She was beginning to doubt herself. Then one day, everything changed. A friend told her that there were opportunities but she would need to prepare herself to be able to access them. With nothing left to lose, Chineye decided to take a chance on herself. She enrolled in the WAVE training program, ready to turn things around. After completing the program, Chineye’s world opened up. She secured her first job in her very first try. What once felt impossible became her reality. Today, Chineye stands proud, with her career on track and a bright future ahead. Chineye is one of 80,0000 young people across West Africa whose lives have been transformed at the WAVE Academy. But there are millions more like her who are waiting for their chance. The problem of youth unemployment and underemployment is a growing issue. According to the World Bank and International Labour Organisation (ILO) data, youth unemployment rates across Sub-saharan Africa including West Africa have been persistently high, often hovering between 12% and 18% in recent years. We need your support to empower more self-motivated youth like Chineye to access skills and opportunities. With 58$ or ₦87,000 you can provide life-changing opportunity to another young person at the WAVE Academy. Your support doesn’t just give them skills- it gives them hope, dignity, and a brighter future. Join us in this mission. West Africa Vocational Education (WAVE) reposted this
POV: It’s your birthday but also a work day.😃🎉 On Wednesday, November 13th, I had the privilege of representing West Africa Vocational Education (WAVE) by attending The Nigeria Food Summit, a pre-summit for stakeholders in the Nigerian food and hospitality industry, convened by the incredible Gbolabo Adebakin. The summit was nothing short of insightful. We had engaging panel sessions and thought-provoking discussions from notable speakers like Guy Futi, Chijioke Odo, Malobi Ogbechie, Luther Lawoyin, Kola Oyeneyin, Atim Ukoh, Dr. Chef Mekwuye Eric MCFBD, FAPCN, FAI, FHATMAN, and many more. They shared valuable perspectives on the challenges and opportunities within the food and hospitality sector in Nigeria. It was inspiring to see how stakeholders within the food industry in Nigeria are uniting to address key issues and drive growth in this vital industry. I left with a renewed sense of optimism and a deeper understanding of the transformative potential of collaboration in creating a more robust food ecosystem in Nigeria.

Not rushing the hiring process would help you hire the right fit, and reduce turnover. #wave #waverecruiting

We asked one of our recruiters at WAVE to share the top mistakes they have seen employers make, and they would be sharing over the next couple of weeks The first one that stands out is unclear job descriptions. Vague roles lead to confusion, mismatched expectations, and can ultimately affect hiring success. #wave #waverecruiting

To align your CV with the role, focus on the job description. Highlight key skills and qualifications that match and adjust your professional summary to reflect your fit for the position. Emphasise relevant achievements in your experience, using numbers where possible. Share with someone that would find this useful. #jobsearchtipoftheweek #wave #creatingimpact #skillstraining #youthemployment
