In partnership with the Office of the Special Assistant to the President on Youth Initiatives (Monitoring and Delivery), the NYFF team was fully represented and played a pivotal role in the successful launch of the Youth Activities Dashboard (YAD)—a transformative digital platform for advancing youth development in Nigeria. Presided over by Comr. Ayodele Olawande Honourable Minister of Youth Development and Hon. Titilope Gbadamosi, Special Assistant to the President on Youth Initiatives, the launch gathered key stakeholders, including MDAs, UN agencies, Commissioners of Youth, CSOs, NGOs, and youth groups to unveil YAD’s potential to track programs, enhance transparency, and connect young Nigerians to growth opportunities. During the event, the Director of NYFF, Onyeche Elisabeth Agbiti-Douglas MPhil (Leics), PhD (BU), PMP®, FCIA delivered an inspiring remark, emphasizing the Fund’s commitment to supporting youth-focused solutions and fostering impactful partnerships. With 896 initiatives aggregated so far, YAD is set to revolutionize youth engagement and ensure sustainable impact. Throwback to last week when we visited the Nigerian Correctional Center Goron Dutse in Kano to monitor the project and see the makeshift classroom facilitated by one of our grantees, the Inmates Education Foundation. Education remains a powerful tool for rehabilitation and reintegration, and we are proud to support efforts like this that give second chances and redefine possibilities for inmates who are now receiving basic education, have access to educational materials, and are advancing in their educational pursuits despite being behind bars. This initiative is proof that education can break barriers, restore dignity, and pave the way for reintegration and success. More picture highlights from our monitoring and evaluation visit to Kano. Today, we shine the spotlight on our grantees - Blue Sapphire Hub whose RADA project (Raising Awareness and Driving Action) provided an innovative platform for 60 youths in Kano to develop and advocate for creative solutions to pressing societal issues. And Startup Kano LTD whose project focuses on the development and implementation of a Citizen Reporting Cross-Platform (CRC), to curb the lack of efficient and user-friendly mechanisms for citizens to report facts and address local issues with responsible stakeholders involved. During the discussion with both teams, we shared learnings, insights, and evaluations on the experiences and outcomes of these initiatives. It was exciting to see young people leading advocacy and digital transformation in Kano and we look forward to harvesting multiple results from these efforts. During the week, the NYFF team conducted a monitoring visit in Kano as part of our engagement in the Northwest region. We had the privilege of engaging with beneficiaries of our development grantee FlexiSAF Foundation These inspiring changemakers participated in the Activism that Yields Results project and were subgranted following comprehensive training. It was gratifying to hear their experiences (many as first-time project implementers) and learn about the impactful initiatives they have led. These include raising awareness about drug abuse amongst secondary school students, organizing a walk for education, providing digital skills training, and advocating for sickle cell disease awareness.
