📅 This week, I was fortunate to attend the #AfricaFintechLive event , where fintech leaders discussed the latest trends and opportunities in the fintech space. Here are some key takeaways: 1. Mobile Money & #DigitalWallets for cross border transfers. These platforms have gained significant traction by offering seamless, affordable, and efficient financial services to the unbanked population both within and beyond borders. 2. DeFi Eruption: Decentralized Finance DeFi is booming, revolutionizing financial services. It enables peer-to-peer transactions,Lending, and yield farming without intermediaries. 3.Digital Payments Revolution 💳 Shehryar Bakht Ali shared key insights with cases touching one of the leading card vendors #mastercard with the increase of smartphone ownership, declining internet costs, and expanded network coverage are driving digital payment adoption. Obstacles and Challenges in Fintech 1.Scaling and Profitability : Fintech startups face hurdles in reaching scale and profitability. Currency volatility remains a top challenge. 2.Regulatory Uncertainty: Navigating an uncertain regulatory environment is crucial. Clear guidelines, especially around blockchain, are essential for fintech success. 3.Addressing Cash Scarcity: Despite growth, cash still dominates transactions (used in 90% of cases). Fintechs must promote digital adoption.
