So much can happen in two years! In 2022, UNICEF celebrated Jigawa state as the first Open Defecation Free (ODF) state in Nigeria. Who would have guessed that two years later, #DUBAWA’s investigation would reveal 7 local governments where open defecation is still prevalent. And this is despite a bye law against the practice. Over the past week, DUBAWA and other members of the Ghana Fact-Checking Coalition have worked to tackle misinformation during the elections. We monitored the media, fact-checked claims in real-time, and supported voter participation through a heavy media literacy campaign. During a press briefing earlier today, we shared findings from our efforts, including completed fact-checks and trends in election disinformation. We also exposed coordinated attempts to spread false information. The work doesn’t stop here. The Ghana Fact-Checking Coalition remains committed to fighting misinformation, promoting accurate information, and empowering citizens beyond the elections. #VerifyGHElection2024 #GhanaDecides2024 #GHFactcheckCoalition #StopDisinformationGH WANEP_Regional
