Partial count in South Africa election puts ruling ANC below 50% as country senses momentous change. Partial results in South Africa’s national election put the long-ruling African National Congress party at well below 50% of the vote as counting continued Thursday, and it could be on the brink of losing its majority for the first time since sweeping to power under Nelson Mandela at the end of apartheid in 1994. That would be a momentous change for South Africa, where the ANC has been dominant for all 30 years of its young democracy and the only governing party many have known The ANC had the most votes and was well ahead in the early results, as expected. But if it fails to secure a majority, it may have to form a coalition to remain in the government something that has never happened before in post-apartheid South Africa. Without a majority, the ANC would also need help from other parties to reelect President Cyril Ramaphosa for a second term. As we go to the polls tomorrow Saturday, December 7th, let us all remember that elections are a time to shape our nation’s future, not to divide us. Ghana has always been a beacon of democracy in Africa—let’s uphold this proud legacy. Contribute to a peaceful election by: 1️⃣ Be Responsible: Cast your vote with dignity and avoid actions that may provoke tension. 2️⃣ Respect Each Other: We may support different candidates, but we all share one goal—a better Ghana. 3️⃣ Say No to Violence: Peaceful elections are the foundation of lasting development. Let’s reject hate speech and stay united. 4️⃣ Follow the Rules: Adhere to all voting protocols and respect the Electoral Commission’s guidelines. Remember, Ghana wins when peace prevails. Let your voice be heard at the ballot box, not through conflict. #GhanaDecides2024 #peacefulelection #votewisely #ghanafirst🇬🇭 #bridgeqe

Dear President John Mahama 1. A BIG CONGRATULATIONS to you on your win. You are among the most experienced flagbearers of a political part with four years as President, eight years in opposition and now being given another four years to lead this country. I just want to let you know our expectation of you is high. We hope you will rise up to it, if not exceed it. 2. Having won the election and with your vast experience I will hope to hear the announcement of your cabinet ministers (significantly lower as you promised) and key roles in the next 72 hours. With your knowledge of the roles and people around you and elsewhere, over many years, it will be a good sign of a new decisive leadership who can hit the road running. 3. As you get into appointing your cabinet please remember. The world is moved on significantly and we need bright, skillful, progressive, hardworking, bold, disciplined, ideas men and women of integrity to move us forward. Tap into the vast network of Ghanaians across the world. There should be tribal and regional balance, but not at the detriment of the qualities mentioned above. 4. The vote for NDC is largely a protest vote. We are therefore looking for something different which shows a man who understands that this opportunity is one to cement a credible lasting legacy for the future of the country. An opportunity many will never have. 5. You are in a unique place to instill discipline at all levels and truly get everyone in line to move the country forward, as you do not necessarily need anyone's vote for power again. Discipline may not make you popular now but posterity will speak for itself. The level of development and speed we require to move forward is hinged on this - DISCIPLINE! 6. While we challenge you to lead boldly, please spell it out clearly to the people of Ghana what you expect of each citizen, letting them know they have equal responsibility to do their part let the nation work. Corruption is a major canker at all levels and we need every citizen to root it out of our system, in our homes, offices, churches, schools. As a Christian we pray you will be an example at all levels and be corruption free. 7. Please listen to the people when they talk and not just those who surround you and your party members. MakeFIRING andDISCIPLINING of none performing ministers and leaders a norm. It is the only way to get people to sit up and not be complacent and abuse their power. It starts with you, Mr President. 8. Avoid going after enemies or someone who said something you didn't like. However, do not spare people who stole at all levels from the nation in contracts, deals, and deliberately signing Ghana up to dubious and questionable programs and projects with no reasonable benefit to the nation. Do not step in or interfere or listen to anyone who begs for an accused person's pardon because of their perceived status or position. The law must apply to all. #ghananewpresident #presidentmahama

#SouthAfrica – Poll positions The Electoral Commission of South Africa finalised on 08 March the submission of party lists for entities intending to contest the 29 May general election. Whilst the process was largely smooth, most contentious was the decision by the ruling ANC party to include corruption-accused individuals. Dynamics underlying the list are among several challenges facing the ruling party as it seeks to avoid losing its absolute majority in the upcoming ballot. There are, however, several ways in which the ANC can strengthen its support ahead of the elections; cognisance of this may lead to shifts in the policy and economic environment in the coming weeks. There is a moderate risk of violence during the pre-electoral period. Our latest via #TheSignalRoom: https://lnkd.in/dK85kKD9

7th December 2024 is a Saturday Spending just 12 hours of your time and of your whole year at your polling station to make sure your Vote for the NDC is protected should not be a big deal. General election comes once every 4 years and this election must be treated like you are a candidate yourself. Do not just go and vote and walk away, Never! When You Vote, DO NOT GO HOME, STAY at the Polling Station until your VOTES are counted and declared before Everyone. Absolutely nobody can drive you from the polling station. Form community and polling stations “watchdogs” and monitor the process from start to finish. The NDC can only send 2-4 agents to each polling station, you the ones voting for the NDC need to be there to help them protect the votes At least in every polling station, there should not be less than 200 people on standby supporting the NDC agents with their presence. It’s a collective Responsibility, Do this For Ghana 🇬🇭

Yesterday, I was deeply troubled by the clips I watched about the Edo election. The blatant selling and buying of votes left me feeling disheartened. It's perplexing how, despite ongoing challenges in Nigeria, some are willing to exchange their votes for meager sums or everyday items like salt or Maggi. I wish there was a way for my voice to reach the far corners of the earth to proclaim that we are not yet prepared for the change we so desperately seek. True change must stem from within us, reflecting in our actions and attitudes. Just pondering 🤔 1. What concrete measures can be taken to tackle the pervasive issue of vote selling and buying in Nigeria? 2. How can we inspire individuals to prioritize the inherent value of their votes over fleeting short-term gains? #triplenexusconsult #EdoElection #VoteSelling #NigeriaElections
