  • #AfricaMentorshipWeek 2024 Recap: “As I reflect on my experience as a mentee during the inaugural #AfricaMentorshipWeek by AFRICANXT BUILD, I’m feeling a mix of gratitude, excitement, and why-didn’t-I-think-of-that?! moments …. Dr. Akintunde-Johnson Bada is ‘Bada by far’ for a reason! He didn’t just share his journey; he practically handed me a GPS for my own.”

I've always been all about tapping into the wealth of knowledge of my seniors - whether it’s bombarding my bosses with questions or barging into my GapX Mentor’s DM at midnight 😂 As I reflect on my experience as a mentee during the inaugural #AfricaMentorshipWeek by AFRICANXT BUILD, I’m feeling a mix of gratitude, excitement, and why-didn’t-I-think-of-that?! moments. A massive thank you to my exceptional mentors, Dr. Akintunde-Johnson Bada and Claudine Moore Moore, who somehow managed to squeeze years of wisdom into a few sessions for me. Dr. Akintunde-Johnson Bada is ‘Bada by far’ for a reason! He didn’t just share his journey; he practically handed me a GPS for my own. He challenged me to think beyond the conventional and his words made me wonder if I’ve been living in the “status quo” all this time. (Note to self: You’ll always find time for what you love). Claudine Moore was the networking guru I didn’t know I needed. She didn’t just answer my questions - she broke down the art of building sustainable networks with such clarity, I’m still picking my jaw up from floor. I’m incredibly grateful to Ngozi Odita and the entire team of AFRICANXT for curating such an impactful experience. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ll be applying all these brilliant strategies and pretending I’ve had it all together from the start. 😅 #Mentorship #AfricaNXT #Leadership #Networking #Growth #LevelUp #AfricanMentorshipWeek #LeadershipDevelopment #Networking #GlobalLeadership

Founder @ Fertitude, AI-Enabled Women’s Health Companion | Advocacy for Inclusive Health Policy #HealthTech #FemTech

Last week, I had the privilege of sitting down with Joshua Chibueze, Co-founder/Chief Marketing Officer of PiggyTech Global (owners of PiggyVest and PocketApp), and OLAPEJU IBEKWE, CEO of Sterling One Foundation, and wow—my notebook is full, and my mind is buzzing. 🎉 We discussed the essential art of building long-term relationships, the power of storytelling and community in the B2C market, and just how much untapped opportunity exists in the women’s health space. For me, these sessions were not just insightful but deeply validating. One of those “aha” moments that reminds you how the right conversations can light a fire under your ideas. Mentoring at lightning speed but with so much depth!⚡ Big thanks to Ngozi Odita of AFRICANXT BUILD for setting this up. I’m always grateful for mentors who so generously share their time and wisdom. Now, it’s time to get back to building Fertitude—these gems aren’t going to implement themselves! 💪

Who are your mentors? I feel privileged and blessed to have been mentored by exceptional professionals both within and beyond Africa. Recently, I had the opportunity to engage with AFRICANXT Build, where I benefited from personalized 1:1 mentorship with some of the most inspiring African professionals. A special thank you to Tunji Andrews, Jania Okwechime, PhD, and Subomi Plumptre for their unwavering commitment and dedication to nurturing the next generation of African leaders. Speaking of mentorship, I’m reminded of a powerful message shared by one of my mentors, Bayo (Olubayo) Adekanmbi PhD, during the DSN AI Bootcamp Award Night: • “Awards are for a day, but rewards last a lifetime.” • “Great events don’t create great people—great decisions do.” • “Commit to areas that matter most to your growth.” • “Remember the African proverb: You can only learn to cut a tree by actually cutting a tree.” • “Give back to your community—it will deepen your knowledge and accelerate your growth.” Inspired by the principle of giving back, I’ve developed a web application that empowers you to make informed, quantitative investment decisions with ease—no coding or complex math required. Simply adjust sliders and click buttons to build your portfolio using advanced strategies. Stay tuned for my next post! #AfricaMentorshipWeek #AMW2024

#africamentorshipweek Recap: “I had the opportunity to commune with some of Africa’s leading professionals. … A thousand thanks to Ngozi Odita, Chukwuka Tolulope Obu, and the rest of the AFRICANXT team for providing this opportunity and platform for young African creatives, leaders, and dreamers like myself.”

In his book, Mastery, Robert Greene lists having a mentor as one of the key foundational ingredients to mastery. As a storyteller and writer, I understand intricately the purpose of a guide to a hero's journey. Frodo had Gandalf; Luke Skywalker had Yoda; and Harry Potter had Professor Dumbledore. A mentor is akin to a teacher; one who guides you along the path. They show you that it can be done, and what doing it entails. Being a history buff and researching into the historical success of the “Nwa Boy” system as witnessed in Igbo land, I could see how mentorship is indeed an invaluable part of entrepreneurial success. For the past three days, I had been a part of AFRICA NXT BUILD mentorship week, where I had the opportunity to commune with some of Africa’s leading professionals. I have garnered invaluable insights and gained new perspectives from my discussions with Ejiro Amos-Tafiri , Douglas Kendyson, and Mawuse Ziegbe A thousand thanks to Ngozi Odita, Chukwuka Tolulope Obu and the rest of the AFRICA NXT team for providing this opportunity and platform for young African creatives, leaders and dreamers like myself. Let's continue to emphasise the importance of mentorship in our personal and professional growth! Who are your mentors, and how have they impacted your journey? #AfricaMentorshipWeek #AMW2024
