Position: Program Assistant -STEM/Art - Part Time
Location: Foley Boys & Girls Club, 1391 S.
Cedar Street Foley AL 36535 Hours: 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM Hourly Pay Rate: $10.

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Responsible for implementing the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) program that increases technology skills for all Club members while assisting those with the interest and aptitude to prepare for future careers in STEM fields.
Our goal is to be the premier agency for youth who have an interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics programs.
TYPES OF STEM PROGRAMS: Digital Photography; 3D Printing; Scratch Game Development; Coding; Robotics; Science Experiments; Claymation; Basic Engineering KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities): Prepare Youth for Success by creating an environment that facilitates participation and achievement.
Provide basic computer maintenance, including file management, troubleshooting, and technical support to clubhouse youth and mentors.
Facilitate science and engineering activities/classes planned for Club members.
Use 3D printers, power tools, robotics, tablets, and other technology resources for program deliver Monitor programs, services, and activities to ensure the safety of members and the quality of programs.
Recognize club members for program participation and achievement.
Participate in training, Branch staff meetings, Professional Development, and In-service days.
Assist the Branch Team in maintaining a clean and safe Club environment.
RELATIONSHIPS: Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Branch staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/ instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel.
External: Maintains contact with external community groups, members' parents, and others to assist.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: College-level courses in a STEM field or equivalent experience.
Background working with youth, in particular young people from underserved neighborhoods.
Relevant experience or education in an informal learning environment, such as homeschooling, Sunday school, or competitive team situation.
Experience with computers and interest in technology as a creative and empowering tool.
Effective interpersonal skills, including an ability to get along with people of diverse backgrounds and a talent for making people feel welcome.
A passion for learning and helping others learn.
Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics.
Demonstrated excellent organizational and project management abilities.
Demonstrated ability in working with young people, parents, and community leaders.
Possess a valid state driver’s license and access to dependable transportation.
TRAVEL REQUIRED: Travel between sites and activities, as needed.
May be required to drive club van periodically.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: The employee is subject to both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions.
Activities occur inside and outside.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (in performance of essential functions): This position requires the activities of talking and hearing along with intermittent physical activities of stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, standing, reaching, walking, pushing, pulling, grasping, and repetitive motion.
Hours: Regular Part-Time with a Variable Schedule Academic Year – 15-20 hours/wk: Monday through Friday between 3:00 p.
m.
and 6:00 p.
m.
Summer – up to 40 hours/wk: Monday-Friday between 7:00 a.
m.
& 6:00 p.
m.
This schedule may vary slightly based on Club hours and at the discretion of the Branch Director.
Extra hours, as needed, for special events.
*NOTE: All candidates are required to undergo a criminal background check, a child abuse review by the AL Department of Human Resources, and a pre-employment drug screen/TB Test and fingerprinting.
