These seven sex positions can help you last longer in bed

Great sex is more about quality than quantity, but it can be frustrating when your romp is cut short – even if it’s because of an orgasm.

There’s no fixed time that constitutes premature ejaculation, and everything from what’s on your mind to how long it’s been since you last had sex can impact performance.

However, if you or your partner would prefer things moved at a more leisurely pace, there are plenty of things you can do.

The first step is to look at the root cause and how often you’re finishing ‘early’. It may be as simple as steering clear of alcohol or masturbating a few hours beforehand.

Or, there may be deeper psychological issues such as sexual trauma, in which case it’s best to visit your GP to find out which treatment options are available.

You can then start to think about the sex itself, experimenting with positions and techniques that help you build up slowly to a mind-blowing orgasm.

Sex and relationship expert, Charlotte Johnson, at Mega Pleasure comments: ‘Exploring and experimenting with different sex positions can be an invaluable aspect of sexual intimacy and personal growth.

‘It allows individuals and couples to break free from routine and discover new sensations to potentially enhance their sexual experiences for longer.’

So to help you smash those bedroom personal bests, Charlotte has rounded up seven sex positions that can help you last longer in bed.

The Yab-Yum

‘This sex position is a great way to get up close and intimate with your partner,’ says Charlotte.

One partner starts by straddling the other facing them, sitting on the bed or floor cross legged.

This allows the bottom partner to thrust harshly, while the closeness and eye contact heighten the sensations.

The Cross

To get into the cross position, the receiving partner lays on their side slightly, with the penetrating partner facing upwards behind them, the two bodies creating a cross.

‘As this position reduces a lot of thrust movement, it can build intense and exceptional pleasure,’ says Charlotte.

It also leaves the receiving partner’s hands free to stimulate themselves or caress their lover’s body.

The Standing Ovation

The standing ovation sex move features one partner laying flat on a surface with their legs vertically in the air. Following this, the other partner then stands up, placing themselves in between their partners legs.

Charlotte says: ‘This position is the perfect one to push towards the longest time of arousal as it is very comfortable for both involved, and therefore can be practiced for a longer period of time.’

Take a Kneel

Very similar to the standing ovation, this position also has the receiving partner laid on their back, but with their feet flat on the penetrating partner’s chest as they kneel down rather than standing.

As the first partner’s legs are bent, this shift the movements as they may start to feel uncomfortable. However, this in fact reduces the chances of climaxing and gives you more time to revel in the sensations.

The Grinding Missionary

Just like the trusty missionary position, this one all hinges on how you move your body.

Think less thrusting and more grinding to intensify the pleasure – and it’s great for hitting the female G-spot, commonly found on the anterior wall of the vagina.

Sit on The Throne

Just like it sounds, this position involves one partner sitting on a chair or surface, with the other facing away from them and on their lap.

‘The second partner is able to take control of this situation and use their hips to go as deep as they want,’ says Charlotte.

The penetrating partner can hold on tight to increase closeness or use their free hands to explore.

The Lazy Dog

This one is a twist on the famous doggy-style position, however with a much lazier approach.

It essentially entails the same position as doggy but laid down on a bed or flat surface, boosting penetration and intensifying stimulation.

It allows you to whisper sweet nothings in your partner’s ear and is a great choice for chilled-out morning sex.
