*Position Summary*
As a Senior Payroll Tax Analyst, you will provide a critical payroll tax service as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support Columbia EDP Staff internally and externally for Columbia EDP clients.
You will be responsible for effective implementation and oversight of the resolution systems for customer service issues regarding remittance of payments and filing tax returns.
Providing a proactive and efficient team atmosphere in the day to day operations of the tax department you will be providing best-in-class customer service, that contributes to the ongoing success of Columbia EDP’s clients.
*Position Responsibilities:*
* Analyzes multi-state payroll tax data and performs calculations, and ensures that payroll information is reported to federal, state, and local agencies as required.
* Create audits and remit all 940, 941, 943, 944, 1042 and other federal deposits.
* Support the preparation and processing of accurate and timely multi-state and multi-jurisdiction withholding tax payments, reconciliations, and returns.
* Research and file the special assessments for specific states with interest payments quarterly/annually.
* Ensure compliance with filing and payment deadlines.
* Research and resolve tax notices/discrepancies referred by government, state, and local agencies in a timely manner to mitigate potential penalties and interest.
* Perform W2 corrections and reissue corrected copies.
* Leads Year-End processing and closing procedures.
* Coordinate rate and frequency updates for Columbia EDP clients.
* Audit new employee data, tax set ups, requests, and escalations.
* Responsible for setting up and closing Taxing Jurisdictions.
* Maintain EDP client tax account number logs, apply for account numbers, complete forms for electronic filing and reporting, and assist clients with account closures.
* Collect and review all year-to-date payroll information for new clients.
* Perform and build compliance and year end reporting.
* Ensure that policies and procedures are current and appropriate for effectively managing the day-to-day systems operations.
* Review daily balancing report and prepare daily audit documentation as required for compliance.
* Design, document, and review payroll tax processing procedures
* Creates advanced ad-hoc reporting to support internal and external functions.
* Collectively collaborate with a team of payroll SMEs to proactively monitor internal controls to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely tax filing & reporting to government authorities.
* Provide problem resolution through effective client interface and communication in a timely manner.
*Qualifications:*
* Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or related field and 5 years of Payroll Tax Accounting experience.
* Advanced excel and payroll software skills.
* Payroll Service Bureau experience preferred.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Experience in payroll tax reporting and compliance in a multi-state / large corporation.
* Experience with Payroll tax quarterly annual reconciliations.
* Strong understanding of areas of employment tax processing.
* Strong knowledge of jurisdiction guidelines and the ability to interpret and explain employment and payroll tax laws and regulations.
* Strong organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment.

Pay: From $60,000.
