On November 26, KASE held the opening "Ring the Bell for Climate 2024" ceremony as a part of the global initiative by the The World Federation of Exchanges. The event brought together local and foreign experts, representing diverse sectors such as finance, environmental organizations, government bodies, and international institutions. This ceremony served as a pivotal platform for addressing critical topics on the climate agenda, environmental sustainability, and KASE's role in advancing the carbon market. KASE CEO, Alina Aldambergen, underlined the Exchange's dedication to addressing climate issues, noting its recent joining to the Net Zero Financial Services Providers Alliance (NZFSPA), which aligns with the goals of the Paris Agreement. She emphasized that KASE actively contributes to the reduction of carbon emissions by developing the market for "green" financial instruments and supporting issuers focused on sustainable development. Currently, KASE lists 21 ESG bond issues for a total issue volume of 583 billion tenge. Director of the Securities Market Department of the Agency for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Aidyn Dauletbaq, emphasized the importance of KASE's role in the development of green financing in Kazakhstan, noting that KASE accounts for 96% of the volume of ESG bond placements. Ilya Wulf, EY Sustainability and Climate Change Practice Manager in Central Asia, Caucasus and Ukraine, spoke in his presentation about Kazakhstan's Emissions Trading System (KazETS), which is the first emissions market mechanism in Central Asia and an important tool for achieving the country's greenhouse gas reduction goals. He also noted international experience, emphasizing the need for prompt adaptation and modernization of carbon legislation to market conditions as a key recommendation for Kazakhstan.

📢From 19 to 21 November 2024, the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE) General Assembly & Annual Meeting are taking place in Kuala Lumpur, hosted by Bursa Malaysia. This landmark annual event, which brings together leaders of the exchange and clearing industry, is attended by Chairman of KASE's Management Board Alina Aldambergen, Deputy Chairman of KASE's Management Board Zhainar Sarzhakov and Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of KASE Clearing Centre Idel Sabitov. 🔸The Annual Meeting will address current topics of competition in the financial market, the impact of innovation and digital technologies on the development of exchange infrastructure, the promotion of sustainable finance, as well as the impact of political polarization on markets. 🔸WFE is a global industry group uniting more than 250 market infrastructures. KASE has been a full member of the WFE since 2013 and currently ranks 44th by stock market capitalization and 18th by the volume of bond trading among its members.

📢Deputy Chairman of KASE's Management Board Dana Amanzholova and ESG officer of the Exchange Madina Kassymbayeva spoke at the forum "Corporate governance – an imperative for liberalizing the economy of Kazakhstan", which was organized by the association Qazaq Independent Directors (QID) in Astana. 🔸At the plenary session "Current challenges for corporate governance", Dana Amanzholova said that KASE actively participates in the formation and promotion of corporate governance standards, which contributes to the development of markets and protects the interests of investors. 🔸The Exchange consistently promotes sustainable development issues and its principles among listed companies and trading participants. 🔸At the panel discussion "Financial Market, ESG and Diversity" Madina Kassymbayeva spoke about KASE's joining the Sustainable Stock Exchanges initiative. Today, KASE is one of 134 exchanges promoting the ESG agenda in the financial market. An important step in this direction is the issue of ESG bonds. Currently, KASE lists 20 ESG bond issues for a total issue volume of 580 billion tenge.
