About us
At Decentraland, we are creating a virtual world that will grow beyond any centralized control. To accomplish this, we’re building a suite of supporting tools and applications designed to help people create three dimensional content, games, and applications. All of this will be hosted and accessed on a fully decentralized VR platform. Our work touches virtual reality, dApp development, game design, cryptocurrencies, and 3D art and design. Our team is dedicated to pushing the limits of what can be done in each of these areas using decentralized computing and WebVR, and we are looking to grow. Work happens quickly at Decentraland: we iterate frequently and are always chasing new problems to solve.

She's a Decentraland legend, and is always pushing the boundaries of creativity in the virtual world 💜 Today it's time to celebrate Dogebuster's co-founder and community icon Toxic Waifu 🦋 Q: How'd you get started creating? A: I first dropped a Wearable for the "Ugly Christmas Sweater" contest but this was my first time creating so I just did the pixel art. For the "All About Wearables" contest I tried to do everything myself. Thankfully, my co-founder MGD gave me a Blender bootcamp, so I actually managed to design and drop a T-shirt on my own! I wanted to make a set to mix and match with my other wearables, so I went for pants/skirt too. Q: Where do you pull inspo from? A: I want to create pieces that let me bring my personal style into the Metaverse! I see my avatar as a digital extension of myself, so I’d prefer to wear things that I’d rock in real life and share my vibe with others! That’s why my first wearable wasn’t for sale; I just gave it away instead :3 I’m super inspired by 2010s emo, scene, alt, and goth fashion! I’m really into edgy street style and that cute but spooky aesthetic.. it’s like cozy meets creepy, and I’m totally here for it! There’s just something so special about that style that really resonates with me. I’m hyped to reimagine that aesthetic in Decentraland and make it accessible to a whole new crowd while keeping that nostalgic vibe alive! Honestly, I just want to mix all these influences together to create something that feels like me! Can’t wait to see how I can blend those elements into my Wearables! Q: Why Decentraland? A: My obsession with digital worlds started very early! I spent a lot of time in places like Habbo Hotel. But after a little while, I started to focus a lot on my career in management and marketing, so I stepped away from the online scene and lost my connection to digital worlds. Then my autoimmune disease hit, and I got really sick, finding myself spending most of my time at home, unable to leave without putting myself in danger. I felt like I lost my whole social life and everything I had worked so hard for or that brought me joy, and I was mentally at a dark place. That’s when MeanGreenDoge came along and introduced me to this amazing decentralized digital world! He showed me the Metaverse, and it felt like everything I thought I lost suddenly came back to life! In Decentraland, I can meet new people, learn new things, go to parties and events, and build real friendships. It’s like I’m part of something bigger while still being true to myself, and I don’t have to choose between my health and my social life. I can have both, and tbh, that kinda saved me. What I also love about Decentraland is that it’s not controlled by big corporations; it’s all about us, the users, and what we create together. That kind of freedom is just so exciting and empowering! It’s completely reshaped how I view my life and my future. Sending tons of love to my DCL fam! 💖

If you see the Doki Doll Face Anime Origin + the GhostBlaster NightVision Device it's probably DCL Japan ambassador Kenji 😏 In Decentraland, Wearables are used to create a digital identity. Users choose and combine accessories to make themselves recognizable in the virtual world. This makes spotting a friends avatar as easy as running into them on the street.

Decentraland reposted this
At Decentraland, we’re redefining the relationship between creators, users, and platforms by flipping the traditional social contract. The power belongs to the community— because we believe digital experiences thrive when users have true ownership, shared value, and the freedom to create. This vision is what drives us as we continue building a decentralized, user-first Metaverse. It was a pleasure discussing this and more with Anthony Day 🕛 Day on his podcast. From Decentraland’s early days to the challenges of competing with established gaming platforms, to what’s next with Decentraland 2.0, we dove deep into the evolution and future of virtual worlds. 🎧 If you’re curious about the intersection of blockchain, governance, and immersive digital experiences, this conversation is one not to miss. #Decentraland #Web3 #Metaverse

🚨HUGE new podcast with Yemel, Exec Director of Decentraland! Everything you wanted to know about the Metaverse but were too afraid to ask… 🗺️ Oh, and they’re ’Virtual Worlds’, in case you want the technical term. And there’s a LOT more to building, running and GOVERNING them than you might think… 🫡 Decentraland pioneered the crossover of Blockchain and the Metaverse, and now they're back with version 2.0. And they've been working on some important things along the way... 🙌🏽 I'm joined by Yemel Jardi, a Web3 veteran, developer, Executive Director of Decentraland, and occasional virtual 'celebrity. 🍓We take a look back over the launch and growth of Decentraland, the challenge of competing with established gaming and VR categories, and what it took to develop Decentraland 2.0, including: - Decentraland 101 - The state of the Metaverse in 2024 - Decentraland vs. Fortnite vs. Minecraft - Parties, Hide & Seek, and What Decentraland User Get Up To - The Challenge of Building Governance for a Virtual World - What More is Needed to See More People Use Virtual Worlds 😱 This is the deepest discussion I’ve ever had on the topic of Virtual Worlds, so defining get listening! Today the spotlight is shining on one of the most OG creators, Canessa 💖 Q: How did you get started creating? A: I first started building for the Land Creator Contest in April 2019. The editor tool had just been introduced, and once I started seeing how easy the assets were to place, I was hooked! I loved trying to create new scenes from existing objects, like enlarging a vase to be an airship balloon or kitchen knives to be airplane propellers. I like being forced to look at things in a new way. I've done a lot of stop motion in the past, so when emotes were introduced, I dove into this new art form. Q: Where do you pull inspo from? A: I love whimsical and playful things! I believe we are kids at heart, so some of my emotes came from watching kids play on a playground (hula hoop, swing). I also want to convey not just the positive vibes, I've created emotes to capture a range of emotions such as sad, tired, scared, and most recently, angry 🙂 Q: Why Decentraland? A: I love the ownership of our land and assets. I've been active in other virtual platforms, and the ability to buy and sell your assets is a non-negotiable for me. I also love seeing how far Decentraland has come from the early days when we couldn't even walk in the world. It's an amazing experiment to see what people will create here.
