The paradigm shift has taken place in the time aspect of this resolution. The upcoming Vega C launch on December 3, 2024, marks a milestone for #Avio and Italy’s role in European space advancements, positioning Italy as a leader in next-generation launch technology. Following the December 2022 incident with the Vega C’s VV22 mission, Avio took bold, corrective actions, demonstrating Italy’s capability to address and overcome the challenges in complex space systems, which strengthens its position in the global space industry. As the Italian manufacturer of the Vega series, Avio has been central to Europe’s independent access to space. Vega C, a highly advanced iteration of the original Vega, was designed to meet the increasing demand for medium-lift launches. When the VV22 mission encountered a second-stage anomaly in its Zefiro 40 motor, Avio led a comprehensive analysis and recovery plan, embodying Italian resilience and technical expertise. Key actions taken by Avio include: Redesign of Zefiro 40 Components: Avio engineers addressed the root cause by replacing the nozzle material with a high-durability composite, showing adaptability and innovation at the material science level. Intensive Quality Control and Testing: Avio implemented rigorous testing protocols for all motor stages, reflecting Italy's commitment to precision and safety in space technologies. Italy, through Avio, has become indispensable in ESA’s and Arianespace’s strategic goals. The Vega C program places Italy at the center of Europe’s vision for independent and reliable launch capabilities. Beyond manufacturing, Avio’s advancements contribute to Italy’s technological standing as it strengthens partnerships with European entities and expands its influence in the global space industry. 🌍🚀 THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE SPACE ECONOMY: A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO DISCUSS ABOUT SPACE BUSINESS GROWTH AND INNOVATION     “General States for Space Economy”, the event promoted by the Italian Parliamentary Intergroup for the Space Economy, were promoting meetings and discussions on Space “#MadeInItaly”. On 11 and 12 September in Turin and Milan, companies, institutions, academic world, Agenzia Spaziale Italiana and the main stakeholders faced challenges and opportunities that the #NewSpaceEconomy can offer from the commercial exploitation of low orbits.   Thanks to the growing attention that Italian institutions have placed on the space sector, OHB Italia S.p.A. has significantly expanded in recent years, surpassing 300 employees. The strategic position of Italy within the European Space Agency (ESA), combined with the expertise of our engineers, has enabled us to lead major programs like the #CometInterceptor, which is aimed to “capture” a comet with the development of a nearly one-ton spacecraft and two probes.   At the same time, initiatives such as #IRIDE (the constellation of constellations), funded through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (#PNRR), have allowed us to adopt a "New Space" approach, expanding our supply chain and adding #microsatellites to our product portfolio. These small satellites, with reduced costs, can be deployed in large constellations and launched in a very short time, the same it once reached the a Critical Design Review (CDR).   The next frontier will be in the integration of Artificial Intelligence (#AI), which will optimize operational efforts for satellite constellations and enable more efficient data exploitation, ensuring quicker access to the most valuable insights for end-users.   However the PNRR is an extraordinary measure. to maintain this growth trend, it is crucial to go on with “fueling” companies like OHB Italia S.p.A. with new initiatives, just like for example to support the commercialization of assets generated under the IRIDE contract in export markets.   Additionally, we can have s #greatpotential in incorporating AI into the algorithms of our #Flyeye telescope, a shining example of Italian excellence in Space Safety. With enhanced autonomy, Flyeye could monitor our skies for both natural and man-made threats, increasing the security of our territories and of our entire Planet. I was honored to co-moderate, together with my collegue Raivo Kasepuu, the "Traveling Together Towards the New Frontier - Space Cooperation between Italy and Estonia" conference at TalTech – Tallinn University of Technology. This event, organized by the Italian Embassy in Estonia and the Italian Trade Agency, highlighted the recent Memorandum Of Understanding between TalTech – Tallinn University of Technology and Sapienza Università di Roma, focusing on #collaborativeresearch in #nanosatellites, #robotics, and #AI. After opening remarks by Ambassador Stefano Catani and Nadia Svaluto Moreolo (Italian Trade Agency), key presentations included: -Marco Di Clemente (Agenzia Spaziale Italiana) on advancements in space technology, -Elise Olt (Estonian Space Office) on international space partnerships, -Stefano Stefanile (AVIO ) on Europe’s space launch systems, - Silver Lodi Lodi (Spaceit ) and Katriin Kristmann (Estonian Student Satellite Foundation) on new developments in #nanosats and optical communications. We concluded with insights on aerospace cluster challenges from Fulvia Quagliotti (Distretto Aerospaziale Piemonte), Gerardo Lancia, MBA (Lazio Innova), and Simone Briatore (Golbriak Space OÜ). We have DestinationEarth, and several Mission Ocean projects, data spaces, cloud resources such as EOSC and much more. Iliad invites you to learn about both Iliad and many other resources over a couple of webinars.  Iliad provides both new technology and thematic and local twins. I am delighted to have participated today to the Paris Cyber Summit 2024 to bring the vision of Leonardo Cyber & Security on a topic of great relevance such as the AI’s potential in #security and #defence. The increasing #digitalization and hyper-connectivity, combined with global geopolitical instability, led to the rise of #hybridthreats. The rapid development and adoption of Artificial Intelligence make these threats even more dangerous. Aware of the crucial role of Emerging Digital Technologies (#EDT), and particularly #AI, can play to ensure the protection of critical infrastructures, #Leonardo has developed an AI-driven, data-centric #cybersecurity approach enabled by the pervasive use of Artificial Intelligence in interconnected #military and #civil #domains. Certainly given the strategic nature of the information handled, AI models need to be developed, trained, and managed in secure and protected environments. To this purpose Leonardo provides services and solutions based on the of state-of-the-art standards, technologies, and approaches to effectively protect AI models.

Subsequently, BPER Banca utilized Everbridge's geolocation features to visualize critical resources previously identified in Orbit. Tiscali has launched #Villanova, an innovative project aimed at making #artificial #intelligence accessible to everyone, from small businesses to individuals, part of #IPCEI-CIS. The #IPCEI-CIS is the key digital initiative for Europe driven by more than 100 companies and research organizations from 12 EU Member States aiming to establish the first- ever “Multi-Provider Cloud-Edge Continuum”. The main objective is the creation of an entirely new decentralized environment, which will enable software infrastructure for the advanced use of data processing resources from Cloud to Edge. This novel open ecosystem operated by multiple providers will reduce technological dependencies as well as lock-in effects. Moreover, it will enable a whole new dimension of data-driven business models, e.g., AI- and IoT-related, for a broad L spectrum of domains and industries such as manufacturing, mobility, energy and tourism. During the course of the IPCEI Cloud projects, a total volume of several billion Euros will be invested.
