Morgan Stanley partners with Climeworks to remove 40,000 tons of CO₂ from the air. Climeworks, the global leader in carbon removal, signed a long-term agreement with Morgan Stanley to remove 40,000 tons of CO₂ from the air. The partnership, lasting until 2037, is Climeworks’ second-largest contract to date and will accelerate its scale-up in the U.S., where Climeworks is the anchor technology provider for the Direct Air Capture Hub Project Cypress supported by the U.S. Department of Energy. IEF SG highlights central role of natural gas in evolving energy transition. Joe McMonigle, Secretary General of the IEF - International Energy Forum (IEF), recently pointed to the evolving discourse on the energy transition and emphasized the necessity of integrating natural gas into future energy strategies. "The debate about the energy transition has shifted significantly over the past three years," McMonigle remarked. "Three key events have shaped the global discourse: the 2021 gas shock, which highlighted the risks of under-investment in traditional energy; Europe's pivot to U.S. LNG in 2022, which showed that renewables alone are not sufficient to meet demand; and COP28 in 2023, where the energy industry was invited to the climate table, bringing a much-needed pragmatism to the net-zero debate."
