e-GEOS, a Telespazio (80%) / ASI (20%) company, is a leading international player in the geo-spatial business. e-GEOS offers a complete range of products and services in the Earth Observation and in the geo-spatial application domains, based on both optical and radar satellites as well as on aerial surveys. The Rome-based company employs more than 300 people and operates through the Earth Observation centers in Matera (Italy) and Neustrelitz (Germany). As the European hub for VHR (Very High Resolution) data, e-GEOS grants unique access to the COSMO-SkyMed data, and to the major optical missions. 📍On Sunday 15th December, bad weather conditions led to an accident involving two oil tankers, resulting in an #oilspill in the Kerch Strait, #BlackSea. 🛰️ Through COSMO-SkyMed satellites by Agenzia Spaziale Italiana and Ministero della Difesa, e-GEOS carried out Radar acquisitions to analyse the area affected by the possible presence of spills from tankers. In the following image, processed via the e-GEOS #SEonSE application platform for maritime domain monitoring, the positions and characteristics of the identified oil spills are highlighted. 🤝🏻 The image has been provided to CMCC Foundation - Centro Euro Mediterraneo sui Cambiamenti Climatici, which carried out the drifting simulations and developed a specific bulletin on the event. 📸 #KerchStrait, Black Sea. 📍In the latest #CORDIS Results Pack by the European Commission, on the evolution of the #Copernicus Programme projects, Massimo S. Sernicola - Defence and Environment Application Programs at e-GEOS - summarised the achievements and future goals of the #ARCOS Project, for which he is coordinator. ❄️ ARCOS (𝘈𝘙𝘊𝘵𝘪𝘤 𝘖𝘣𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘊𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘤𝘶𝘴 𝘚𝘌𝘈 𝘚𝘦𝘤𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘚𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘤𝘦) successfully applied the European Union's #EarthObservation solutions to enhance the situational awareness of the Arctic region. Through a comprehensive monitoring system that combines Copernicus #satellites data with non-EO data and #ArtificialIntelligence, the project provided tools allowing for a comprehensive picture of #Arctic dynamics, from navigation to iceberg detection. Such insights are crucial for maintaining safety and environmental protection in the Region. 🤝🏻 The ARCOS Project is funded by the European Commission's Horizion 2020 Research Programme. 🎤 Elena Francioni, Head of Sales - Italy at e-GEOS, joined the round table “Our Planet From #Space: 25 Years Of Monitoring #Geohazards” hosted by Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia at NSE ExpoForum 2024. 🛰️ She remarked on the long and lasting collaboration between e-GEOS and #INGV, especially in the fruitful activities within IRIDE Spazio concerning volcanoes and earthquakes. 🚀 To mark the #ItalianSpaceDay, we joined a webinar hosted by Ambasciata d'Italia a Oslo, focused on the #EarthObservation cooperation activities between Italy and Norway. 🎤 Donatella Giampaolo - Marketing & Sales, Europe at e-GEOS - presented key partnerships, including our long-standing agreement with KSAT – Kongsberg Satellite Services for COSMO-SkyMed data reception at Svalbard, Troll and Singapore. 🌍 Here are some snapshots from the launch event of the Love Planet Earth 2025 calendar, held last weekend at M9 Museum, in Venice. Through projections in the M9 Orizzonti room, we created an immersive experience, based on the sustainability themes that have underpinned e-GEOS and Telespazio's Love Planet Earth calendars for 17 editions. 🛰️ The images from COSMO-SkyMed satellites of Agenzia Spaziale Italiana and Ministero della Difesa - which are featured in the calendar - immersed us in the fragile beauty of polar ecosystems. 🖼️ The event was held as part of the exhibition "𝐁𝐔𝐑𝐓𝐘𝐍𝐒𝐊𝐘: 𝐄𝐱𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 / 𝐀𝐛𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧" by Edward Burtynsky, displayed at the M9 Museum until the 12th of January 2025. Dealing with the impact of human action on the planet, the Canadian photographer and artist's images tie in closely with the ecosystem conservation theme featured in Love Planet Earth 2025. 🙏🏻The first 500 visitors received a gift calendar and poster.
