Monitoring Employee Communications...Good or Bad? Today, we start a series called #RapidReads. In this series, we summarise interesting, topical HR-related articles. We hope the snippets pique your curiosity to read the full article. Our first read is an article from SHRM (link in first comment) about whether employees' messages must be monitored. Caroline Collins argues that it should and Eric Mochnacz argues against. The arguments for are that monitoring: 1. Protects sensitive data from internal or external threats 2. Ensures employees follow legal and compliance guidelines 3. Enhances workplace safety and maintains productivity. The arguments against are it: 1. Breeds distrust among employees, negatively affecting morale 2. Discourages open communication, reducing innovation 3. Intrudes on employee privacy, harming the overall work culture If you ask me, I'd vote against. God forbid my Manager finds out what I am saying behind their back 😂
