Toxic work environments or toxic workers aren't as black and white as Set 1 and Set 2. That makes it more difficult to identify the culprits. Since I frequently write about toxicity at the workplace, my feed gets many posts on the topic. I hope all these posts are making some difference. The change, if any, is painfully slow when it needs to be on a war footing. It does good to nobody. It benefits the culprits in the short term. Set 2 people may start playing politics after becoming a favourite and for keeping that position. So they have a leg in each Set. Set 1 organisations may be doing 100 things wrong, but doing 10 things right gives them enough reasons to not realise there's something that seriously wrong. So, taking feedback seriously is essential. Not through formal surveys, as not many trust their anonymity. Subtle hints are often the tip of the iceberg. Never shoot the messenger. We have adopted an approach that avoids sending the same standard quote to all clients. Instead, we prefer to discuss each client's training needs in detail and offer tailored solutions based on their specific requirements. Our approach is flexible, ensuring that every session we conduct is unique, even if it involves the same industry or similar requirements. While it would be easy to send the same quote, agenda, and presentation slides repeatedly, doing so would undermine the purpose of evolving training and development.

RISE OF INQUALITY - A SOCIAL PROBLEM. (Note : I am a Sales & Business Coach.) What has Byju's to apologise for and what was the reason for Byju's downfall ? This question keeps coming to my mind for some time now. Valuations are taking precedence over 'value' creation and social impact in the current age of Capitalism. Poor work environments, hire and fire culture and poor/weak management is quite evident in startups and even some mid-sized organisations which have leveraged capital only to their benefit without creating much value for other stakeholders. The unorganised sector is suffering much more than the organised sector, though. Today, I regularly find people unable to find 2 square meals because someone has moved their cheese and busy devouring it. That someone could be a startup which has disrupted the market or the capitalist which doesn't see immediate returns from people investments. Just today, I met a woman who has been starving for the last 3 days, unable to provide food to her children since her husband passed away. I see that we have an obligation to help those who are suffering due to change that is coming fast and unannounced. Coming back to Byju's, I have counseled a few youngsters who merrily joined Byju's because they were inticed by large salaries for sales jobs they were illsuited and untrained for. After an unrupt exit which was caused by tremendous stress, depression and emotional distress to them but they still remain clueless to the impending problems their career choices have created. The problem arose because obtuse management had poor management and had limited understanding about HR, Sales, Marketing or most probably people management. Additionally, youngsters fail to look at careers as careers and developed a myopic interest in 'moneyed jobs' contributing to false hope and false dreams. Based on some true conversations with my mentees, new trainers & few old pals too 😀😀 Vendor/ Client: Send me the ppts, lesson plan, handouts for you to get shortlisted. And many a trainers do that too… to only face. Mr India (the gaayab client/vendor) as once you have shared what was asked they totally ignore your call/ text/ mails. Some ways to counter this: Ask for an advance Content, session plan etc. constitutes 70-80% of the session. Delivery is just 20%. Max time is spent in preparing this, so why not ask fees for your time & efforts. Share only what is good enough for the person to know your credibility & expertise & not pour out everything. Share watermarked content. It might help to an extent. Propose a demo instead of sharing content mentioning that demo will give a better understanding of your mettle than content which could be created by somebody else too. Happy learning 😀
