Many professionals struggle to secure HRBP roles because they’re not truly acting as "HR Business Partners". Instead, they end up focusing on administrative tasks. True business partnering is about aligning HR strategies with business outcomes. For example, if your company’s goal is to boost profit after tax from 22% to 30%, the HRBP's role is to support that through strategic HR alignment. This involves: 1️⃣ Talent Acquisition: Identifying the right talent for the region, industry, and client base. 2️⃣ Talent Development: Building future-ready skills to meet business objectives. 3️⃣ Talent Management: Aligning performance with business goals, both functionally and behaviorally.  4️⃣ Talent Interactions: Creating a collaborative environment to drive collective success. Presenteeism.... Presenteeism describes the situation where employees are physically present at work but are mentally or emotionally disengaged, leading to a significant decrease in productivity. Why is it a problem? While absenteeism (being physically absent from work) is a recognized concern, presenteeism can be equally detrimental. Here's why: Reduced Productivity Poor Quality of Work Negative Workplace Culture Hidden Costs Examples of Presenteeism: An employee shows up to work despite feeling unwell, leading to them working slowly and making errors. An employee goes through the motions of their job but lacks motivation and misses deadlines. An employee is physically present but spends a significant amount of time on personal activities during work hours. Challenges of Measuring Presenteeism: Unlike absenteeism, presenteeism is harder to quantify because it's based on employee behavior and engagement levels, which can be subjective. How HR Can Address Presenteeism: Employee Engagement Surveys: Regularly conduct surveys to gauge employee morale, motivation, and well-being. Performance Reviews: During performance reviews, managers can identify signs of disengagement beyond just the quantity of work completed. Too frequently, we hear jokes and comments that trivialize HR's contributions, suggesting that their work is limited to making rangoli or engaging in other light-hearted activities. These stereotypes are not only outdated but also disrespectful to the hard work and dedication that HR professionals put in every day. The reality is that much of HR's work happens behind the scenes, away from the spotlight. They are the backbone of the organizations, ensuring that everything runs smoothly. When employees are looking for jobs, seeking leave, applying for loans, or pursuing promotions, it is HR that steps in to facilitate these processes. They are the ones who navigate complex situations, mediate conflicts, and foster a positive workplace culture. Moreover, when an employee decides to leave, HR plays a crucial role in ensuring a smooth exit process, helping to maintain relationships and uphold the organization's reputation.
