Indian companies, particularly in the IT sector, have made some progress in gender diversity but still face significant challenges, especially in the deep tech sector. 👏 A report by Pure Storage and Zinnov highlights these issues, revealing that while global capability centres (GCCs) employ 1.66 million people with 28% being women, this diversity decreases sharply at higher corporate levels, dropping to just 6.7% at the executive level. Addressing this disparity requires concerted efforts to support women in their career growth and ensure equal opportunities at all levels. #MakeinIndia #AtmanirbharBharat #HPE I feel extremely privileged and proud to contribute to the Make in India vision in my own small way, not once - but thrice - in my professional journey so far. It started with John Deere Sirhind Works - their maiden harvester factory was being operationalized in India and scaling the business was imperative for viability in the first few years… Subsequently at Honeywell Make in India started as an initiative called “East for East”, capturing opportunities in the large and growing 'mass mid segment' in India across Honeywell businesses. What started as an initiative, eventually fructified into a new entity altogether - Impact by Honeywell – a brand of products & solutions designed & developed in India for India. And now the latest and most special at Hewlett Packard Enterprise - establishing server manufacturing footprint in India, in record time. I call this special, because it was the most complex in terms of manufacturing set-up, tech industry nuances and ecosystem involvement. All three of them were evaluated through fine toothed combs, and rightly so, given the executive muscle, investment, and effort they involved. And eventually the strategic intent and business impact passed the tough scrutiny with flying (tri)colors! It is India’s time and it is the best time to be in India!
