 "Talent Acquisition excellence rests on four foundational elements: Speed to deliver, Quality to sustain, Data to strategize, and Diversity to thrive - with Cost optimisation being the force multiplier." ✨ Don't Choose but Orchestrate These Pillars for Sustained Organizational Excellence.   In my conversation with Vipul Mehrotra, TA Head Swiggy, I wanted to focus on his learning and get his perspective on his specialist career journey in the TA function. Vipul's candid input resonated with me. He said, "In your TA role, focus on being the best in your vertical rather than pursuing generalist roles. “I don't have to be the number one in HR (since TA roles up to HR), but in my vertical or scheme of things, I should be it.”   He also spoke about how embracing data literacy as a core competency in understanding systems and analytics is no longer optional; it's fundamental. “Focus on understanding data, which can help you become a great recruiter.” Regarding talent-related challenges, "Invest in growing talent rather than just acquiring it. "You have to invest in talent — the consulting industry can be a sourcing ground, but you have to invest in that.” On start-ups where he celebrates his 10 years, “I like chaos because I like to bring stability to such situations. As the head of TA, I work to bring structure around the chaos.” Think end-consumer first, "If your decision is good for the organisation, your stakeholder will eventually understand that and will be aligned with it.” 🤔 Question for HR and TA Leaders:  How do you orchestrate these pillars in your organisation? 🌟 Here’s a quick and lively scoop about my recent experience attending the SHRM India Annual24 Conference virtually this time! It was an incredible opportunity to gain insights from industry leaders on a wide range of crucial topics, all from the comfort of my home. 💡 One standout session for me was on #Outcomation (Outcome + Innovation)—an inspiring approach to roadmap creation and future planning. The strategies discussed were not only thought-provoking but also incredibly valuable for driving success in our organizations. 🏡 One of the topics they discussed that I found particularly fascinating was on : #Fostering Family-Friendly Workplaces for the Future to be impactful. It emphasized the importance of creating inclusive environments that support and uplift all employees, which is vital in today’s work culture. 🤝 Another key theme that really stood out to me was the significance of #Networking, #EmployeeProductivity, and #Prosperity, as well as the #evolving strategies needed to stay Future Ready in today’s changing world. While I can’t cover all the amazing topics discussed, I’m grateful to SHRM India for such an experience. As I reflect on these discussions, I’m excited to embrace this era of learning and upskilling. As someone who has had the privilege of leading several HR initiatives for a global workforce across multiple geographies, EMPLOYEE WELLBEING is a concept that has evolved far beyond its original scope as it has become multidimensional. We are no longer just talking about health benefits or gym memberships—wellbeing is multidimensional, covering physical, mental, social, spiritual, and financial health. WORK-LIFE BALANCE is one of the most important elements. In a world where work can easily blur into one’s personal life, creating an environment that respects the individual’s need for downtime is crucial. This means both flexible hours & encouraging people to use their vacation days by normalizing the idea that it's okay to unplug. During performance appraisal discussion, whatever may be the reason for assigning a 'not-so-good' rating, the team member deserves our time for a chat, some words of empathy and encouragement to improve. Evolution of the #CHRO role in India is an insightful article. Of the trends highlighted in the article, two stand out and make me curious. Firstly, the rise of female CHROs is encouraging, but what is the underlying factor? Is it merit-based hiring or positions set out for women only? Additionally, we should deep dive into the impact of this trend on business performance. The quote, "CEOs and boards expect CHROs to be their proactive and strategic advisors, bringing a 'business ownership' mindset as opposed to focusing only on the HR agenda," should be a wake-up call for all #HumanCapital professionals. Another valuable insight is the underrepresentation of CHROs on #boards. The strategic value of Human Capital professionals goes beyond hiring and retention and is an untapped potential. A rather nice thing happened to me last Friday. As we were winding up after completing an employee engagement festive quiz for a corporate client in Kolkata, a senior participant came up to me and said, "Souvik, I really enjoy your quizzes. You ask questions from things that are known to us, yet often unknown to us in some way. I always felt that quizzes were difficult and questions were asked on nerdy subjects, but your quizzes have changed my perceptions. This is the third year you hosted this quiz for us and I have liked them every year. Also, I like the way you encourage the teams to attempt your questions and you look genuinely happy when someone gets it right. Hope to participate in your quiz next year too."
