Foundational skills every product marketer should possess: 1. Storytelling + copywriting - To be able to translate and narrate stories in various forms and for various audiences. This requires the ability to constantly shift perspectives and zoom in and out of situations, mentally. 2. Stakeholder management - Product marketing usually sits at the center of other GTM teams like sales, product, marketing, etc. which means continuous cross-functional collaboration. This requires managing various stakeholders and their expectations. 3. Analytical Comprehension - Good product marketers conduct lots of market and customer research which requires the ability to analyze and interpret information and comprehend complex ideas or data.

How can you simplify complex product messaging to improve sales?
Defining your product's target audience is one of the key tasks in crafting the perfect message. Look into factors such as demographics, firmographics, psychographics, behavioural and group similar segments if possible. Research your audience to learn about their goals, challenges, preferences, motivations and so on. This will not only help you find ways to reach and market to them but also help your company build a product that best suits the target audience.
