'India to date has therefore been viewed more as a soft power and cultural partner by most Southeast Asian nations, not a strategic partner. As India becomes bolder and more proactive in its foreign policy ... it needs to move beyond these existing areas of cooperation and signal more clearly the underlying objectives and aspirations behind the Act East policy, and what kind of partnership India seeks to achieve in Southeast Asia. 'All of this represents a clear shift, attributable to the fact that the Act East policy now drives India’s Indo-Pacific vision. The developments send a message that India is ready to embark on a strategic and defence partnership not just with the Philippines but perhaps, over time, with other Southeast Asian nations as well, reflecting India’s growing ambitions as a global power and the leading voice of the Global South. 'A one-size-fits-all approach does not work in Southeast Asia, as this region is very diverse, especially in its foreign policy orientation and perceptions'. https://lnkd.in/gSsAE-BE

Delhi Faces Severe Water Crisis Amidst Political Allegations Readmore: https://lnkd.in/eK2ZWei8 New developments from Delhi reveal a city in turmoil due to a worsening water crisis. Residents are deeply concerned, and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has turned the issue into a political battleground. Water Minister Atishi Marlena has intensified the situation by alleging a plot to cut off the city's water supply, prompting her to write to the Delhi Police Commissioner for assistance. Charges from BJP Leader Kapil Mishra BJP leader Kapil Mishra has made serious allegations, claiming that the water crisis primarily affects Hindu-majority areas while sparing Muslim-majority areas. Mishra highlighted that areas in Old Delhi such as Seelampur, Okhla, Jaffrabad, and Jama Masjid are not facing water shortages. He accused the Delhi government of religious bias in water distribution and alleged that the government increased water supply to Muslim areas in preparation for Bakri Eid. Mishra demanded an immediate stop to these practices, asserting that water is being diverted from Hindu areas to Muslim areas as a form of political retribution for Hindu support of Prime Minister Modi in the Lok Sabha elections. #DelhiWaterCrisis #WaterShortage #AAPPolitics #DelhiResidents #WaterManagement, #DelhiGovernment #WaterMafia #DelhiNews #viralpost2024 #viralnews #aapexposed

A little late posting this, but never too late given the elephantine task of Indian diplomacy with a rising political ambition yet also limited capacity and resources to protect and promote the country's interests abroad: What does the Union budget look like for the Ministry of External Affairs? Riya Sinha and I compare the changes from last year, including a record growth (24%) and explain a few myths about the variation in "aid" amounts for neighbouring countries: bottom line, a shift from grants to loans. https://lnkd.in/gY8_Jm7N

Why Arts & Humanities education is vital for sustenance and progress of human society that has been pushed over the edge for human extinction due to unbalanced emphasis towards Science & Technology 1. Excess money is destroying the climate and ecology and stealing the future of youth and children. 2. A minimum money is needed for our sustenance in good health - food and basic needs. 3. Having more money is correlated with higher social status. 4. Earning more money is seen as motivation for higher productivity and innovation. 5. Fiat money is controlled by a global cartel driven by Greed Apathy and Selfishness that is destroying the climate and ecology. Therefore the more money you earn, the more your paymaster is likely destroying the climate and ecology and it further multiplies with our expenditure in the present global order. 6. Empirical evidence, over past several decades when the alarms were first raised on serious climate and ecology damage in early 1970s, clearly indicates that the individual countries are locked into Destructive Global Competition in the present global order and cannot come out of this without a Civic Society led World Government. https://lnkd.in/gjnHr4wR

Mission 2025: Can Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party Overcome the Growing Challenges in Delhi Readmore: https://lnkd.in/eMc53xpd As the 2024 Delhi Assembly elections approach, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) led by Arvind Kejriwal has launched its ambitious “Mission 2025.” Kejriwal’s re-election bid is centered on mass outreach programs, aimed at re-engaging with voters across Delhi. This time, however, the political landscape appears far more complex for the AAP than in previous elections. With allegations of corruption, a shifting public mood, internal dissent, and stronger opposition from both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress, Kejriwal is facing one of the most challenging phases of his political career. Kejriwal’s Outreach: Mission 2025 In a bid to secure a third consecutive term as Chief Minister, Kejriwal launched a series of large-scale campaigns, attempting to directly connect with the people of Delhi. His outreach, which began earlier this year, is part of AAP’s strategy to revitalize its voter base by meeting citizens face-to-face and addressing their concerns. The party is focusing on urban neighborhoods, slum clusters, and areas that have historically supported AAP, with the goal of rebuilding trust and reestablishing its once-solid grip over the capital. The outreach campaign includes padyatras (foot marches), public rallies, and social media initiatives. Kejriwal and his team have promoted the party's achievements in education, healthcare, and welfare schemes—policies that were once pivotal to its success. The Road Ahead: A Fight for Survival The stakes for Arvind Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party could not be higher. As Delhi’s elections loom large, it is clear that the road ahead will be extremely difficult for the party. AAP, which once won elections on the strength of its promise of clean governance and free services, now faces the daunting task of convincing voters that it still deserves their trust. The BJP is better prepared this time, Congress is reviving, and the public is growing increasingly disillusioned with Kejriwal’s leadership. With allegations of corruption, internal dissent, and discontent among voters, Kejriwal is in a precarious position. The 2024 Delhi elections could be a defining moment for AAP and its leader, potentially either solidifying or undermining their influence over the city's political future. Rajasthan is not just a cultural and historical hub. But a future-forward state is ready for growth. And the best part? Rajasthan offers one of the most balanced costs of living in India. Here's the proof. Rajasthan's cost of living stands at ₹30.1k < States like Gujarat, Maharashtra and 14 others. This affordability creates a solid foundation. ⤷ Both businesses and individuals can flourish. (All without the heavy operational burden that comes with more expensive states.) But there's more. Rajasthan is on the rise. Cities like Jaipur, Udaipur, Jodhpur, are rapidly modernizing. Infrastructure, transportation, real estate development - all improving. Making it a magnet for investors. Businesses can operate with lower overheads. There are diverse opportunities in the state, emerging daily. But why is Rajasthan ripe for long-term investment? Government initiatives. Regulations are being simplified. Ease of doing business is a priority. Sectors like renewable energy and agriculture offer exciting opportunities. It gets even better. Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit 2024. The aim? Doubling its economy by 2025, reaching $350 billion in size. Either way, Rajasthan is worth considering for investors. Not just for its historical charm and cultural richness. But also for its future-forward outlook and growth potential. Rajasthan is on the rise. What do you think? Is Rajasthan evolving from being the best wedding destination to an investment destination in India? Share Below. Image Courtesy: Finshots Data Courtesy: Livingcost org

Dis-and #misinformation in #election campaigns: In this article, I tried to capture key lessons learned from the Shakti Collective (India) and a blueprint for the future to make collaborations easy. 1. Importance of Interdisciplinary teams was a crucial differentiator to ensure every spoke in wheel was coming together to function like a well-oiled machine. 2. Power of collaboration and amplifying fact-checking networks helped protect millions of voters from poll-related misinformation 3. Incorporating language diversity in fact-checking. While those that speak English have access to fact checks and verified information, the same is not always true of other languages. Ensuring language amplification was key behind the success of the collective. 4. India's election wasn't infected with deepfake content many feared. But risk is certainly no longer just hypothetical. 5. Biggest threat posed by disinformation is that it is not just fake content that makes people believe false things—it's also making them less likely to accept truthful information. 6. One of the most valuable lessons we learned from the Shakti Collective is that when we want to encourage people to do something big, we need to make it easy.

Dr Sasmit Patra is an interesting parliamentarian to watch, bringing to the fore issues of an institutional nature. It may be the more reasoned deliberations at the back-end, of MPs like Dr Patra, that produces real work, in the absence of maturity and substantive depth in those leading the poor quality of the opposition's grouse mining narrative spins. Building congruency, needs a reasonable nod to reality, and that is compromised by the poor quality of legislative deliberations descending purely to exacerbating issues in the pursuit of vote-banks, rather than act as a check on government excesses. Even our institutional structures like courts, in many cases, appear to prefer moral posturing rather than building a bridge to better policy implementation, the decontextualized nature of their abstractions, and a procedural morass. where the fealty to procedural means have overtaken substantive and practical ends (tareek pe tareek!) - leads any resolution into an endless procedural maze. The tough task of "performing" in governance, making a careerist bureaucracy with its deep vested interests work, is difficult even for the strong willed, and may not even be in the agenda as the primary focus of those slanted by their electoral bargains.

Rural women microentrepreneurs, consumer acquisition, and value delivery: Evidence from a quasi-experiment in rural India Abstract: Gender equality and social impact are gaining significant research attention in marketing. This paper investigates the impact of recruiting rural women microentrepreneurs on acquiring consumers and delivering value to them. We study the outcomes from a quasi-experiment in which a social enterprise recruited a group of women to become microentrepreneurs in 91 out of 164 locations (panchayats) across rural districts in India. We show that the rural locations with more women than men microentrepreneurs experienced a 40.8% increase in consumer acquisition and delivered 64.1% greater value to their consumers. Moreover, these locations with more women than men microentrepreneurs delivered $5,445 more value for women consumers. Men microentrepreneurs who work in inclusive settings with other women microentrepreneurs delivered $25,100 more value to their consumers than men microentrepreneurs working in predominantly male-work environments. This research contributes to the intersection of marketing, social entrepreneurship, and gender dynamics, underscoring the importance of empowering women for better marketing and societal outcomes. #ConsumerAcquisition #ConsumerValueDelivery #MarketingPerformance #SocialEntrepreneurship · #WomenMicroentrepreneurs #EmergingMarkets #QuasiEexperiment ——- You can read this full paper here: https://rdcu.be/dUTpN based on Soochnapreneur program of Digital Empowerment Foundation that is now functional at 2000 locations with as many micro-digital-entrepreneurs having more than 70 percent women entrepreneurs and 25 percent PwD. Would love to discuss this model for if we can work together to make this a tool of poverty alleviation for 300 backward district and 3500 Taluks and blocks. Let me know if you want a copy for yourself to read.

Delhi has 38 consecutive days with maximum temperatures at or above 40°C since May 14. Heat wave warning systems need a major revamp and need to be translated for clear impact. Warning without impacts are of no use for 200 million people in NCT Delhi!Heat Action plans without action are only ceremonial achievements. Serious action is required than to count how many cities/ States have HAPs. Heat emergency can't be dealt with Business as Usual! Serious planning and implementation is required to make Delhi livable!

🌱 Proud to share our impactful work! 💼 As we gear up for the upcoming elections in #India it's crucial to address the pressing needs of the citizens. Despite promises made, many villages in #Delhi still lack basic infrastructure and facilities. The flagship schemes of the Prime Minister aren't implemented. Our team is committed to bridging this gap and advocating for tangible change. 🏗️ Through our initiatives, we've been working tirelessly to improve the quality of life in #village areas. From advocating for better roads and #sanitation to pushing for essential services like hospitals and colleges, we are dedicated to uplift the villages in the national capital that are ignored by the #city planners & the administration. 🤝 Collaboration is key in driving meaningful progress. We've engaged with local stakeholders, the villagers to understand their needs and advocate to ensure implementation of sustainable solutions. Together, we're building stronger, more vibrant villages that everyone can be proud of and the youth don't feel embarrassed or hateful about their own roots. 🗳️ As we approach the polls, let's remember the importance of prioritizing local development. 'The big change now is a strong sense of "Bharat First", where we have both the confidence to think through the pathway and using our national interest as the primary metric of judgement ... pursue a multi-vector diplomacy that would maximise our partners and minimise our problems. Where we have to take a stand, we do not hesitate or come under pressure. At the sametime, there is a constant assertion of our relevance. This is Vishwa Bandhu Bharat ['Bharat which is a companion to all']. 'As we are already seeing in challenging domains like defence, it can open up possibilities of exports as well. India is also today increasingly positioned to emerge as one of the global hubs of research, design and innovation. It is only by a more intensive engagement with international partners that we can hasten our journey towards Viksit Bharat ['Developed Bharat']. 'Whether it is Quad or BRICS, I2U2, SCO or East Asia Summit, India's interests have been at the core of its calculations. These initiatives involve a range of partners, often at odds with each other. It requires a Vishwa Bandhu to carry them all'.

Feeling both determined and reflective as I read the latest report on Delhi's water bodies. It’s alarming to see that nearly half of them have vanished—either lost to time or encroachment. This isn’t just a statistic; it’s a significant blow to our #environment and the heritage of our communities. We’ve been working hard to bring attention to these neglected water bodies. Many of these “missing” ponds and village johads are more than just water sources—they are a part of our cultural #history My team and I have been particularly focused on reviving a local water body in Budhela village, which has been under threat from encroachment for years. Despite multiple efforts, we’ve seen little progress, which led us to file a #Writ #petition in the #DelhiHighCourt earlier this year. "Interestingly Delhi Government has filed a false affidavit in the Delhi High Court stating that this #land is not a village pond Since 1990. Contrary to the village revenue records that clearly show how this land along with many other lands are G.M Johar (Pond as per administrative language)" What's more interesting is that we have filed evidence; copy of Question & Answer from the Parliamentary Affairs on 26-11-2001 by an Member of Parliament in response to which the #Delhi #Development #Authority had admitted that this land is village pond and we will soon resolve the village grievance" And next year they sold the village common land to Delhi government to construct building" Luckily for 23 years, nothing materialized and early this year when GNCTD gave approval for construction, we began our journey to seek #justice in #court after 5 years of efforts of requests, follow-ups and grievance with Delhi Government to stop construction on pond land and revive the natural Waterbury for the benefit of villagers and local ecological environment. This battle isn’t just about saving one pond; it’s about setting a precedent for how we treat our natural resources. It’s heartening to see that public participation is now being explored as part of the solution. Protecting what’s left is only the first step. True success will come when we start restoring what we’ve lost. Let’s keep pushing forward, Delhi. Our water bodies need us. Arvind Kejriwal Atishi . Yours truly is thrilled to present the latest poetic creation! Inspired by the significant impact that the absence of a new census in India since 2011 has on the political landscape, including election outcomes and fair representation in the Legislative Assembly and Lok Sabha, she couldn't resist crafting this piece to highlight these critical issues. "Echoes of the Census: Navigating Shadows of a Decade Past" In the silence of the census past, Lies a story deep and vast. A decade's gone since numbers spoke, Now outdated shadows cloak. Electoral scales now tipped askew, Old data skews the district view. Votes in valleys, votes on peaks, Disparity in what each voice speaks. Resources spread on data old, New needs unseen, stories untold. The hungry left without their bread, As policies for the past are spread. Census whispers shape the land, Guiding the bureaucratic hand. Funding flows where shadows lie, Leaving growing towns to cry. Strategists in shadow grope, Campaign trails with misinformed hope. Outdated maps guide their quest, Missing masses, losing rest. States demand their castes be seen, For equity in a voting machine. Bihar and others lead the fight, For a future mapped in clearer light. Voters grumble, patience thin, Policies fail, and trust wears thin. As old numbers drive the state, The future waits, in restless fate. In the hush of census lost, Count the ways and count the cost. Till numbers new can light the way, We navigate in shades of gray. #nonpartisan #eaglitarian #phase5 #election2024 #census2011 #article19 #politicalscience #law #lawschools #citizens #awareness #education #act #delhincr #delhi #creativity #developmentalist #falsereality

Technology alone is no silver bullet. Technology will lead to the kind of impact envisioned only if appropriate structures and processes are built for people to be able to use it for empowerment. Technology can be used as a powerful lever to set many things right: address inequities, improve democratic governance, accelerate knowledge sharing. However, technology needs to be built specifically for the underserved and marginalized, otherwise it tends to exacerbate inequality. We place emphasis on the role of communities, building and nurturing relevant community support structures and the need to build human capacity and channel the right intent to address the gaps. It is hence important to acknowledge the significant contributions and amplify the role of community-based and civil society organizations in mitigating many of these issues, empowering communities and to make welfare benefits more accessible and transparent (Learnings from Gram Vaani's journey) It was an absolute pleasure collaborating with Archana Kannan and team Indus Action, sharing our thoughts & learnings on this important topic.
