At a time when the state's critical concerns should be prioritised, such trivial coverage reflects the struggle Kannada news channels face in delivering relevant, impactful content. Once commanding an absolute share of 14%, the news genre in Kannada television has seen its share drop to 7-8% in recent times. This decline is likely fueled by the lack of substantial, engaging reporting, especially when compared to the thriving Kannada entertainment channels. #Radio + #Audio are anticipated to be the most under-invested media in India. It is anticipated that their share of consumers' #timespent will be substantially greater than their proportion of #adspending. For #Print & #TV, the scenario is expected to be the opposite. The Indian market for #Digital media has equilibrium. Time spent compared to Media spend is in sync (healthy 50%+). However, given the relative "weakness" of digital media's advertisements, are we spending too much on digital channels? It is an interesting and important fact just because we can see an ad does not mean that we will see it. Ads that are marked as "viewable" aren't necessarily "viewed." Another interesting digital medium observations : - Ad Spend on Meta (#FB + #IG) is 25% vs time spend by Indians on Meta is (8-10% approx. time spent share, ~45 mins per day) - Ad spend on #YouTube is 7% vs time spend on YT by Indians is (8-10% approx. time spent share, ~45 mins per day) - Ad spend on #Netflix & Other #OTT apps is <1% vs time spend on OTT by Indians is (8-10% approx. time spent share, ~50 mins per day) This analysis reveals significant—and sometimes extreme—imbalances between where #marketers put their monies and where #consumers spend their #mediatime.
