What we predicted back in 2022 is now playing out. Private banks are asking to lower their Mudra loan targets because they are concerned about the rising stress of MSME loans. Private lenders have also argued that, in some cases, the current Mudra targets exceed their entire MSME loan portfolio. Our Partner & Head-FinTech, Shilpa Mankar Ahluwalia shared her thoughts with ETBFSI around the RBI’s guidelines for LSPs. As an introduction to the new draft guidelines, RBI said that the identity of a potential lender may be unknown to a borrower in cases where an LSP has arrangements with multiple lenders.
