(Translation is in the doc name) It's definitely not news that non-profit teams are small, yet achieve big targets. But it's definitely worth looking at how Communications teams that are responsible for the organization's brand - from strategy to execution are able to do all of this. Looking at this data of just 20 respondents, shows that 33.33% of organizations with 100+ overall team size have only 1-3 member comms teams. Do we need bigger comms teams? Yes. Will we change this overnight? Probably not. But, can we support each other in effectively and efficiently managing comms given the limited resources? Absolutely. The latest ASER report explores how rural youth in India are accessing and using digital technology. It finds that more than 90% of all youth know how to use a smartphone. But of those who can use a smartphone, males (43.7%) are more than twice as likely to have their own smartphones than females (19.8%). Priya Panikkar's book on Grant Proposal Writing is a must read if you are writing grant proposals or want to quickly understand the art of writing proposals. The simplicity and structure with which the book covers the what, why and how to write grants has helped me in my journey. It interestingly also covers areas that a lot of us often forget to give due importance to but are significant components of our grant proposals these include sustainability, Scalability, risks and Monitoring and Evaluation. citiesRISE undertook implementation studies for Gratitude, Kindness and Hope interventions in schools in India. The intervention in schools includes age-specific in-class curriculum, teacher training, and creating action groups. The classroom intervention was implemented over 8 weeks, teacher training over 12 weeks, and the action board planned for the entire school year. Several participants, including students and teachers, offered positive feedback on this intervention. Before-and-after surveys with 1,714 students found statistically significant improvements in wellbeing, resilience, self-esteem, and social connectedness. Johar Jharkhand! On the 25th of October 2024, The Sangyan (द संज्ञान) in collaboration with 'Ink For Inclusion' Initiative, Jharkhand Viklang Manch, and Project Samajh, and supported by the National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People (NCPEDP) and National Disability Network, co-organized a State-level Consultative Meeting on Ensuring a Disability-Inclusive Electoral Process in Jharkhand, in the backdrop of the upcoming General Elections to the Legislative Assemblies of Jharkhand (India) in November 2024. The pre-election consultation process included conversations around the contextual setting on Disability representation and inclusion in the Political Process and Structure; the 'Mera Vote Mera Bharat' Campaign by NCPEDP-NDN for the Lok Sabha Election of 2024; 'Manifesto: For and By Citizens with Disabilities' curated by NCPEDP, NDN and NCRPD; the 'Charter of Demands: Call to Action for Disability Justice' by 'Ink For Inclusion' Initiative, and Measures by the Election Commission of India and Chief Electoral Officer, Jharkhand in ensuring a sustainable, climate-resilient, universally accessible, and inclusive election (like Assured Minimum Facilities, Vote From Home, Saksham App, etc.) The meeting witnessed the participation of about thirty-five attendees hailing from different regions and districts of Jharkhand representing diverse intersectional identities and challenges, who actively participated in the discussion and shared their recommendations and demands from the political parties and the Jharkhand government. The suggestions, ideas, and opinions encompassed a varied range of subjects and covered demands pertaining to inclusive education and employment, increased budgetary allocation, dedicated disability ministry, dignified pension, affordable assistive devices, accessible infrastructure, para-sports, health insurance, and environmental degradation resulting in acquired disabilities, among other pressing common concerns. We thank all the participants for joining us and hope that this meeting paves the way for shaping and initiating the larger conversation surrounding political representation and participation in the electoral process. We look forward to continued support, collaborations, and partnerships in the coming times towards our collective objective of ensuring disability-inclusive politics and elections. - X - X - X - X - On the 16th of October 2024, the Election Commission of India announced the General Elections to the Legislative Assemblies of Jharkhand. With the polling scheduled in two phases—on the 13th and 20th of November 2024 for the 81 Assembly constituencies—this is a crucial moment for disability rights advocacy. In the social development sector, the name Goonj and Anshu Gupta is widely recognized—a name synonymous with inspiration and meaningful impact.
