Brief write-up on VARV: In the last few years, I have been observing a few families very closely (some of them are my friends, relatives, and neighbors). I have noticed a significant improvement in the lives of those families which have at least one well-educated person in the family. Many of these families have come out of the poverty trap. I strongly believe that if we support educating at least one child in an underserved family, we will surely see the family coming out of the poverty trap…

Brief write-up on VARV: In the last few years, I have been observing a few families very closely (some of them are my friends, relatives, and neighbors). I have noticed a significant improvement in the lives of those families which have at least one well-educated person in the family. Many of these families have come out of the poverty trap. I strongly believe that if we support educating at least one child in an underserved family, we will surely see the family coming out of the poverty trap after the child completes the education journey.
It is heartening to see that many of us are contributing to several NGOs for the education and well-being of poor people. However, the contribution largely is indirect. The donor does not know the recipient and vice versa. There is no emotional connection between the donor and the recipient. Also, a large part of donated money is spent on overheads, travel, etc. Hence, a fraction of donated money is being actually used for the purpose of supporting education of poor children.
Hence, VARV proposes to bring donors closer to the places where they have emotional connection through birth or growing up or staying for long times, etc. and provide direct support to the poor children.
    This has many benefits:
    - Donor can relate to the families she / he is supporting
    - Donor will be able to assess the real gaps and provide a more relevant solution
    - Donor can directly monitor the progress and mentor the kids
    - The donor’s money can be fully used for education purposes and money is not being used for any overhead costs. Hence, the donated money will be used more productively and larger numbers of children can benefit
To support a few families on our own and create awareness of this concept, we have formed a foundation called VARV Foundation.
As of Sep'16, we are supporting / facilitated support to more than 500 students / children through four schools in Rajasthan.
