If you are looking for a book that is a combination of motivation and looking back on your resentment, then this is for you guys. To be honest, when we start reading the book, we are different people, but after a few pages, the storyline of the book makes us feel as if we are one of the main protagonists. The book begins with news circulating in all the media about a woman named Sreeji who got struck by an avalanche on her way to climb Mount Everest. Everybody was finding a way to dig deeper into her, and Vivaan was one of the reporters. He was the head of sensationnow, who called for an immediate meeting with his co-workers and started searching for information about Sreeji. Before they could find out about something, a video went viral on social media, posted by Sharmila (an ex-worker of sensationnow). After some time, Vivaan and her team gathered information from the media, where Sreeji was one of the famous mountaineers and she was a famous guide. All her achievements were listed one after the other in the blog post. Also, they came to know that Sreeji was able to gain this confidence after completing the Jeeva Shuddhi program (six stages), and the wellness center was located in Rishikesh, headed by Ranjit. Vivaan met Ranjit in person to gather information about the program and how it helped Sreeji accomplish her ambition. As Ranjit began to narrate about the program stage-wise, he connected it with Sreeji's real-time experiences. At the end of each stage, Vivaan gets to know about Sreeji and also his own hidden emotions, which were buried. Did Sreeji survive the avalanche and be able to reach the top of Everest? What was her wish to be brought into the spotlight? What were the Sreeji guilt, fear, regret, shame, and illusions that she wanted to let go of? Is the rest of the story. Takeaway: Stage 1: Give up your fear and surrender. Find the purpose of your existence. Stage 2: Work on your guilt and let it go. Value things that still exist around us and for us. Stage 3: Though our action makes us feel ashamed, accept it and admit your mistake. Apologize for the mistake and settle it. Stage 4: Don’t let your grief consume yourselves. Instead, live in the present and let the past pain flow away. Stage 5: Be your true self. Let the world accept it. Acceptance is the key to complete these stages. Stage 6: Overcome illusions to see things clearly. I really enjoyed reading the book. The author's efforts to gather information about civilization and other political information were amazing. Must read to find the purpose of the journey (life). Nature will bless us with everything we need at the right time. To use 'that' or not to use 'that' - that is the question. If you constantly second-guess your use of "that," you're not alone. The confusion around this is common for writers at all levels. I am here to tell you it’s not very difficult to understand when you can omit it from your sentences. There are three situations where you can safely remove "that" without compromising clarity: 1. After reporting verbs like say, think, know, believe, claim, hope, etc. - Our team believes (that) the new campaign will help us reach our target audience more effectively. -They suggested (that) we could improve our content strategy. 2. When "that" introduces a dependent clause -The report (that) she submitted was thoroughly researched. -The data (that) they collected revealed interesting trends. 3. When the writing is less formal, omitting "that" can make the sentence more direct and conversational -I'm thrilled (that) we'll be collaborating on this project. -She's confident (that) her team will win the competition. In each of these cases, removing "that" doesn't change the meaning of the sentence, but it does make your writing more succinct and easier to read. But if removing it creates ambiguity or changes the intended meaning of your sentence, it's best to keep it in. Here's a quick tip: If the sentence sounds complete and clear without "that," leave it out. But if you find yourself questioning whether the meaning is still apparent, it's safer to keep it in place. We are not creative fiction writers, we are after all content writers expected to write on non-fiction topics with a clear intent and purpose. So, how do we, as content writers, ensure our blogs read like stories written on mundane, dry, and knotty topics? I want to know, what are your go-to storytelling techniques in a blog? In defense of LinkedIn. I come across posts daily where users lament the current state of affairs related to LinkedIn. Apparently, LinkedIn has become toxic, pretentious, banal, and, dare I say, unprofessional. A social network designed exclusively for professionals has now become unprofessional. How oxymoronic is that? Fake job posts, LinkedIn gurus selling unfulfilled promises, feuds among LinkedIn influencers, and boastful, low-quality, unhelpful posts have turned it into any other social media platform. However, we seem to forget one crucial detail here. LinkedIn is nothing but our own reflection. It is a social media platform populated by people. It is us that give it color, flavor, shape, and form. We are the ones who create content here, and if it comes out bad, we have nobody but ourselves to blame. By giving traction to fake influencers, shallow gurus, invaluable advice, and sham job postings, we give a bad name to the platform with so much more to offer and still have huge potential. We ought to judge better and be more discerning in our choices. We all know that LinkedIn’s reach has exploded in the past few years. So many users join it daily. There is a sea of talent here, and we need to explore it wisely. The power is in our hands; we must exercise it prudently and give back LinkedIn its former glory.

In the last few weeks, I have come across two sets of freelance writers - One who are open to communicating about their pay range and discuss the offer in detail. After a short conversation about what they prefer and what I can offer, we come to a conclusion pretty quickly. Positive or negative, there's no hard feelings on either side. We keep it professional. - Two, those self-proclaimed, entitled *brats* who come into a conversation with this aura of "I already hate everything". They don't know how to have a decent conversation, their first question would be what's the pay, not what's the topic or genre. These self-proclaimed writers (who usually have a 15-page attractive brochure that no one has time to explore) think that they have expertise in every genre and every type of content that is there out in the world. So, they aren't bothered about the project - they are bothered about what's the pay, and when will the payment happen. Now, if you do tell them your budget, the first thing they will do is show a sense of disgust. They will be rude and question you how could you offer so low, how dare you even quote that, no one will do it, etc. Sometimes I am scared about sharing the offer because I don't know whether the writer would simply say a respectable no or go on an insulating rampage. I simply tell them that's our budget based on what the client is paying and wish them best of luck. I just wonder, why is there a group of writers who are so frustrated at all times? Why are you so angry and open to insulting complete strangers? You have a massive portfolio, you have like hundreds of clients, you have so much work to do, you should be happy that you are getting very highly paid to do something that you like so much. Also, why would you apply to agencies? Don't apply. Reach out to the client directly with your impressive portfolio. If you apply for something, have a positive attitude. Don't have this ultra-mean demeanor. Mind you, in no way I am saying that they aren't good writers. They are good, maybe not the best in the world, because writing is a subjective thing, but they are good. But please tone down on the rude demeanor. Keep it simple. You asked me if there's an opportunity, I said this is what we can pay, you refuse if you are not comfortable, that's it. I was a content writer for three years before I moved on to become an editor. I was very open-minded every time I went into an opportunity, especially because every new person I talk to was a networking opportunity. I made sure to keep my composure while accepting or rejecting their offer. Keep it positive. I posted a hiring alert for a Bengali writer yesterday, and the response left me scratching my head (for lack of a better word).. For those of you who haven't seen the original post, it was an announcement for hiring a BENGALI LANGUAGE CONTENT WRITER (I'm emphasizing this for reasons you'll soon understand). It was clearly mentioned in the headline and the rest of the post was about the nitty-gritty details outlining the workload and payment structure. At the end, I included my email so applicants can send in their resumes and portfolios/writing samples. Imagine my surprise when the applications start rolling in and here's what I find: ❌ 7/30 applicants had either no subject lines or no body text. ❌ 6/30 applicants attached only a resume and no writing sample. ❌ 4/30 applicants didn't even attach a resume and sent a generic AI-generated message in the body text. And worst? ❌ 27/30 applicants didn't even see the post was for a Bengali writer, despite it being the headline. So now, I have shortlisted only three resumes with BENGALI writing samples/portfolios and I will review them. The rest are in my trash 🗑️ But this post is not to demean or bash hopeful applicants. This post is intended to shed light on the fact that most applicants don't even show the slightest professional courtesy of reading a job post before jumping at the prospect of a job. If you're someone who's looking for employment here on LinkedIn, here's what to do in the future ⬇️ ✅ Read the headline and understand what the employer is looking for. ✅ If you feel you can apply for it, make the effort to write a subject line and some body text. ✅ Attach your resume AND portfolio/writing samples with your email. Writing Tip for Today ▶ Stick to an English Variant Use words/spellings as they're used in one English variant (British English - BrE, American English - AmE, etc.). Don't use 'trunk' in one paragraph and 'centre' in another (in the same body of content). Be consistent. 'Trunk' is the American English for 'boot' in British English, while the other 'centre' in BrE is written as 'center' in AmE. Why should you use the right variant for your audience? ✔ It helps your audience stay focused on your content; ✔ while the audience does not consider the wrong variant as a grammatical error. If unsure about a spelling or a word (for something) in a particular English variant, Google it.
