#NAIFF #UnlockingPotential Promoting Decentralized cold chain solutions through National Agriculture Infrastructure Financing Facility! The National Agriculture Infrastructure Financing Facility #NAIFF implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India involves an Agri Infrastructure fund of INR 1,00,000 crore (USD 1184.96) for FPOs and FPCs aiming to create an opportunity to improve on-farm productivity and reduce post-harvest losses by modernizing agriculture infrastructure. A number of government schemes and inclusive financial products have been designed with the aim to #UnlockingPotential and strengthening value capture by end users at the last mile. In the absence of cold chain facilities, farmers from the tribal communities in Leda village of Giridih district, Jharkhand, were facing significant agricultural produce and losses. To counter this, they sought to aggregate and sell their produce by setting up the Aarohi Farmers Producer Company Limited with the support of NABARD - National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development and a local NGO, Rudra Foundation. Recognizing the critical need for sustainable energy solutions in Kokrajhar district in Bodoland Territorial Region #BTR, Assam, with the support of CDSL - Central Depository Services India Ltd, the Ultapani High School was made completely independent of its energy needs (4.4 kWp Solar Energy System). The school now boasts essential equipment such as projectors for digitally aided learning and laptops and printers for administrative requirements. The transition away from diesel-powered generators has significantly reduced the school's operational costs and dependency on expensive fuels. The ability to now use fans in all classrooms promotes a more comfortable learning atmosphere, crucial during the hot and humid conditions prevalent in the region. The inauguration of the solar energy system was graced by the presence of Shri Lawrence Islary, MLA Kokrajhar East; Smt. Masanda M. Pertin, District Commissioner, Kokrajhar; and Shri Jagadish Prasad Brahma, Director of Education, Govt. of BTR. The Meghalaya Early Childhood Development Mission (MECDM) successfully organized a one-day workshop in partnership with VINYAS Society and SELCO Foundation on 17th December 2024 at the State Convention Centre, Shillong. 🌍🌱 Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) are at the forefront of building climate resilience and sustainable livelihoods in Northeast India! Its important that understanding and articulation of climate is also decentralised for the ecosystem and communities who face these challenges.  Over 3 days, Seven Sisters Development Assistance (SeSTA), Axis Bank Foundation and SELCO Foundation joined forces with 10+ CSOs from across Northeastern region of India to share ideas, collaborate, and strengthen our collective efforts in tackling the unique challenges of climate change and the marginalised communities. 🤝🌿 #Day1 instigated dialogues to establish common understanding of what kind of solutions are needed to build climate resilience on the ground-especially in remote and vulnerable areas. With the problem so huge - climate change - it is of utmost importance and the need of the hour to design programs with an ecosystem approach. One of the main takeaways was that the solution is not the centrepiece, but the approach with which we arrive at it. #Day2 kicked off with knowledge sharing on programs targeted at vulnerabilities (PwD, diverse climate typologies, gender). Experts in sustainable agriculture, notably, David Gandhi (pioneer of hill agriculture), Ganesh Neelam (cocreating programs with the community- the Lakhpati Kisan Model), Neelam Dutta from Pabhoi Greens (championing innovation for sustainable agricultural practices and systems) shared their work in detail. Tech demos across rural livelihoods were in full swing along with Apurva.ai. To complement the success stories, the day ended with reflections around failures in past implementation and candid conversations. #Day3 concluded many discussion threads, civil society organisations shared their own processes of program implementation. Challenges in need assessment, vendor management, procurement, sustaining a relationship with the end user, setting partnership expectations and alignment were discussed. A Milestone #Collaboration for Holistic #EarlyChildhoodDevelopment! On 17 December 2024, Meghalaya ECD Mission (MECDM) under the Social Welfare Department, Government of Meghalaya, in collaboration with SELCO Foundation, announced a partnership to develop and demonstrate 2000+ Model #ClimateSmartAnganwadi (Early Child Care and Development) centres across the state. This partnership marks a significant step forward in the mission’s impact through targeted interventions and a shared vision for transformative early childhood care. The partnership was announced by Shri Sampath Kumar, IAS, Principal Secretary and CEO of Meghalaya Early Child Development Mission, in the presence of Shri. Ronald Kynta COO, MECDM, Smt. Key Components planned under the program 💡 Strengthen 2,000+ Anganwadi Centers (AWCs) through solar powered and climate smart built environment solutions: SELCO Foundation will be providing technical support in developing solutions - designs and systems to upgrade the Anganwadi centres across the state into Climate Smart ECD centres. Fostering Entrepreneurship in Micro and Small Enterprises through PMMY! #Unlockingpotential In the Maligoan village in Thaumal Rampur Block, Kalahandi District, Odisha, there is restricted availability to essential digital services (printing and photocopying). Nakula Naik, interested in pursuing a livelihood opportunity, trained in digital entrepreneurship offered by NGO Gram Vikas. With the support of the Mudra-loan from Canara Bank @9.65% Interest, Nakula was able to set up a Lok Seva Kendra (digital service center) powering a photocopier, laptop, printer and camera.
