#WorldSoilDay2024 Did you know the health of our soil determines the health of everything that grows on it? This 5th December, on World Soil Day, we shine a spotlight on the importance of soil and this year’s theme: Caring for Soils: Measure, Monitor, Manage. Aligned with this year’s theme is an inspiring soil story from Yavatmal, Maharashtra. Meet young Agri-Entrepreneur Vishnu Shinde, who is making a positive impact on rural farming communities with his Soil Testing Lab and Nursery. His efforts are helping farmers: ✅ Identify better farming practices. ✅ Use the right set of soil inputs. ✅ Reduce farming costs and increase yields. ✅ Raise awareness about soil health and encourage climate-friendly agriculture. Vishnu’s initiative is part of the Agri-Entrepreneur model under the Sustainable Livelihood Programme, supported by Axis Bank Foundation in collaboration with The Agri-Entrepreneur Growth Foundation (AEGF). In regions where horticulture was once unfamiliar, training programmes have been crucial. By equipping farmers with hands-on knowledge and skills, they are now successfully cultivating high-value crops and transforming their agricultural practices. To deepen our impact in Madhya Pradesh, we have expanded our Sustainable Livelihood Programme to 250 villages across the Jhabhua and Ratlam districts through a partnership with VAAGDHARA INDIA.
