A significant day in National Quantum Mission (NQM) and National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber Physical Systems (NM-ICPS)!!
As part of the 100 days program of Hon'ble PM Shri Narendra Modi ji's new Government, the India DST celebrated a milestone moment with the announcement of two landmark steps of the flagship Missions NQM & NM-ICPS today. Hon'ble Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh joined us online with his congratulatory message and address.
One of the announcements is the establishment of four state-of-the-art Thematic Hubs (T-Hubs) and several technical groups in premier institutions and research labs of the country for spearheading quantum technology advancements, particularly in the key verticals Quantum Computing, Quantum Communication, Quantum Sensing & Metrology, and Quantum Materials & Devices.
The four T-Hubs are being established in Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore; Indian Institute of Technology, Madras along with Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) New Delhi ; Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay and Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi for the verticals respectively and comprises of 14 Technical Groups. Selected through a highly competitive process they will specialize in key quantum verticals, ensuring a comprehensive and robust development in the four verticals.
The network of T-Hubs and technical groups have been announced under the National Quantum Mission #NQM approved by the Union Cabinet, led by the Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, to position India as a global leader in quantum technologies, and revolutionize sectors such as communication, healthcare, finance, space, & energy.
Another major initiative BharatGen, a Multimodal Large Language Model Initiative was also launched to create generative AI solutions for Indian languages.
This initiative under the Technology Innovation Hubs set up by National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM-ICPS), launched by the PM in 2018, will focus on India-centric AI, aligned with #AatmanirbharBharat. The initiative which can further leverage India's AI mission can make AI accessible to all citizens.
