Building products from scratch is always exciting; I love that phase. As builders, and by the power vested in us by Stackoverflow (*copilots), we often tend to start building and welcome all complexities. Having a product mindset helps engineering make better decisions, execute faster, and for us at SN, it has really helped in building enterprise softwares. But product management is more nuanced than it looks—there's so much more to it than mockups/PRDs, arriving at yes/no decisions, or just getting things done. I am amazed at how well the three teams showcased their learnings in just two months. Excited to see what comes next! exp.club
Two months ago, 19 folks embarked on an exciting journey with us as part of our first ever cohort ✨ 🤩 A journey to discover themselves, collaborate and build meaningful and impactful products 🚀 Eight weeks hence, we are immensely proud to announce the conclusion of the demo day for all the three teams - wherein they showcased not just their product-building journey but also their final products 🤟 - actual, functional products and not PRDs or mockups, mind you 😉 Here is a glimpse of their rollercoaster of a ride with us 🎢 A very heartfelt gratitude and shoutout to our mentors and panellists for their immense support and guidance throughout the cohort - Kshitij, Deepak, Ankush, Shruti, Mohit, Ekta, Mayank, Varun, Dheeraj, Deepali, Dipti, Ankur, Harshit and everyone else who played a part - may we continue impacting lives in a positive manner 🙏

"Ideas come easy. It is the execution that matters. You may know design thinking or the agile methodology is theory, but great product are built in the real world. The best products I have had the opportunity to work on were shaped by user feedback, rapid iterations, and most importantly the collaboration with engineers and product managers." - Varun Dhawan, Head of Design & Founding Team, Innovaccer We at exp.club are building a cohort based learning program with the same ideology. Here, you learn and gain practical experience by working in a team of PMs, developers & designers for 6-8 weeks, build a working product and take them to real users. Sounds interesting? "I've always believed in learning by doing. Mostly because my path (high growth startups) to product was doing first learning later. But now that all theories and market research and consumer behavior insights are available easily, it's the execution of that information that sets you apart from everyone who has access to the same 'literature' Building products isn't just about rolling out features; it's about understanding user needs beyond the obvious visible ones & navigating market dynamics knowing competition is in the same market too. When you execute and learn, you make muscle memory for life. That one decimal point movement of metric took you 5 iterations of experimentation and that shows every time you make a decision going forward. When you build a product to gain experience you also build stakeholder relations, you build a product sense, you build a foresight. All of this combined with user need and market analysis gives you a learning that is beyond a classroom experience. Its an unmatched skill. Always leverage your collective insights to build products that make a meaningful impact!" - Shruti Sharma, Senior Product Manager @ GoDaddy and Co-founder Creators Of Products. 💡 5 takeaways from the fireside chat with Varun Dhawan (Head of Design & founding team, Innovaccer) ➡ A myth to overcome: The top strength of a product designer doesn’t lie in visual appeal, but it lies in the problem solving skills. ➡ How to make your portfolio stand out: Build a portfolio where you work on solving real-world problems, not just redesigning existing apps. ➡ If you’re considering to upskill: Learn the basic fundamentals of coding. This sets you up to understand the constraints & win those mini-battles with your tech counterparts. ➡ One thing you should do differently: Don’t just get your designs reviewed by the product managers, get it reviewed by the engineering team as well. Engineers are the experts in identifying edge-cases ➡ A must-read: A not so popular read Varun recommends to the product design community is Design is a Job by Mike Monteiro What's the one takeaway you're definitely keeping with you or resonate the most with, tell us in comments? #productdesign #careeradvice

"Building products is crucial for gaining experience as a product manager. At Flipkart, I've learned firsthand that hands-on experience teaches invaluable lessons about user needs, market dynamics, and problem-solving. Each product iteration sharpens skills in decision-making, collaboration, and adaptability. Failure is part of the process, fostering resilience and innovation. By immersing oneself in product development, one hones the ability to anticipate challenges, iterate effectively, and deliver solutions that resonate with users. The journey of building products is not just about the end result; it's about the growth and insights gained along the way." Deepali Mittal, Senior PM @ Cleanhub. With the same ideology we are building exp.club - a cohort-based learning program where you get to work with PMs, developers & designers for 6 weeks and build a real product, taking them to real users. 🚀 Sounds too good to be true? Well, it is! Apply today (link in the comment section)
