From ADIPEC 2024 recently, our Chief Financial Officer Hitesh Vaid spoke to S&P Global about Cairn’s diversification and expansion plans in different and new segments and basins in India. He talks about how Drilling and Exploration in the offshore waters of the country remain one of the key needle movers for Cairn, and acquiring more blocks will further support our targets. "We have plans to pump in about 3-4 billion dollars of capital expenditure over the next 3-4 years in the upstream sector. About 20% will be in exploration activity and the remaining 80% will be in upstream infrastructure and other related projects", says Hitesh in the S&P Global article. He also touches upon the shift towards a gas-based economy and how we, at Cairn, are gradually working towards increasing our share in the current portfolio. Recently Vedanta Chairman announced an investment of over Rs. 1 lakh crore across oil and gas, zinc, and renewable energy at the Rising Rajasthan Roadshow in UK. Of this, Cairn will contribute INR 35,000 crores to increase production capacity. Our commitment to continued investment was further solidified with the signing of an MoU with the Government of Rajasthan to fast-track our vision to contribute 50% of domestic oil and gas production while achieving Net Zero by 2030. Speaking at the pre-summit of Rising Rajasthan, Rakesh Agiwal, our Chief Policy & Regulatory Officer shared how our continuous investment in the region has transformed Barmer district and significantly boosted its per capita income by 650%. Cairn is embarking on new exploration programs including unconventional, technologies and aims to partner with local entrepreneurs in the area of Small Field Development, Drilling Rigs, Well Services and Facility Construction. Calling Rajasthan ‘Dharti Ka Vardaan’ – rich in mineral resources, oil & gas, he said that the state is a strategic hub for India’s energy security. He also talked about how our community-centric initiatives have transformed over 4 lakh lives across 250 remote villages through social programs focusing on the holistic development of women and children. Day 3 of ADIPEC 2024 was filled with forward thinking discussions - from AI to driving investments in energy transition, our leadership propelled conversations forward at the roundtables today. Our Chief Financial Officer, Hitesh Vaid was a part of ‘Leadership Roundtable’, shedding light on mobilising capital to fund the energy transition, aligned with our vision to produce 50% of domestic oil and gas. Andy McIntosh, Chief Commercial Officer delved into the transformative role of AI as a catalyst in energy transition. Ranjeet Singh, Head – Reservoir Modeling, Sub Surface presented a case study on the Aishwariya Barmer Hill in Barmer, Rajasthan where we leveraged innovative technology in a challenging tight oil field to increase production.
