Is it shopping season for Israeli technology? The recent surge in M&A activity in Israel is the most significant sign of hope and optimism I’ve seen since October 7th. It demonstrates the potential of Israeli tech and the faith placed in it by top global companies. When technology leaders choose to further expand into Israel and acquire local teams, you know financial outlooks are positive. In cybersecurity - often the poster-child of Israeli tech - we’ve seen five acquisitions in quick succession totaling more than $1Bn. Flow Security by CrowdStrike (~$200M), Avalor Security, a Zscaler Company ($350M), Gem Security (acquired by Wiz) ($350M), Silk Security by Armis ($150M) and Entitle by BeyondTrust (~150M). All are led by exceptional individuals, well done! Perhaps more telling is the emerging AI industry. Last week NVIDIA announced its acquisition of two companies for a combined value of $1Bn. Congratulations RunAI ($700M) and Deci AI ($300M). Mainstream media is so focused on the voices of a racist minority calling for boycotts and divestments that they fail to capture actual news. Antisemites might yell the loudest, but the actions of multinational corporations speak louder than words. I am optimistic about the future. Are you?

Tel-aviv has improved its position among the top startup ecosystems worldwide according to Startup Genome's 2024 report (https://lnkd.in/dN3aUa_h). IVC Data and Insights report on the Israeli venture market for Q1-Q3 2024 reveals: - $7.4 billion invested in Israeli startups, surpassing the entire 2023 total of $6.9 billion. - $13 billion generated from exits, a 26% increase from 2023's $10.4 billion. - 23% surge in foreign investments year-over-year. - 67% of capital sourced from global investors, with 33% from Israeli funds. - $2.7 billion secured by early-stage startups, the second-highest figure in Israeli startup ecosystem history (after 2022's record). These figures demonstrate investors' confidence in the long-term sustainability of the Israeli startup ecosystem. Trust received, challenge accepted. We're building the future, brick by brick.

Last week Bria was ranked #20 of the most promising startups in Israel, kudos to the team! It is a long journey to build a startup. At 8 years old, I fell in love with mathematics, and at that point, I knew that's what I'd get my PhD in. That passion not only shaped my academic path but also ignited my interest in visual technologies and AI, which led me to pursue a PhD in computer vision. During my studies, I began to realise just how much the future of content would change with AI coming into the mix. Fast-forward to 2020, during COVID and before the Gen AI hype, I combined my understanding of how visuals can be generated with AI and the valuable enterprise experience I gained in my previous role at Trax Retail, to co-establish an AI startup called BRIA. We had one simple goal: To make it easy for any individual and company to generate the exact visuals needed for any use. Our key objective in helping you achieve this is to ensure that we provide you with a transparent, open, and responsible AI platform trained solely on licensed data, no public figures and deep fake, no privacy infringement. And in a world where more than 43% of people don't trust companies to use AI morally, Responsible AI use has never been more important. In building BRIA, we've been able to help businesses all over the world scale their content development process. And what gets me even more excited is that we've been able to partner with different creators to ensure that their creativity is respected, rewarded, and isn't pirated. We trained our own high quality foundation models and built the core tools of Generative AI so everyone can use it. The journey so far has been anything but linear, and I'm eager to continue sharing the innovative features we're developing, discuss the critical importance of Responsible AI, and explore how you can leverage our platform to its fullest potential. Innovation truly is a state of mind at Bina - Bridge Innovate Nurture Advance and it was an honor to be part of launching the “BinAi” club, focused on empowering Bina's team with advanced Gen AI tools. Huge thanks to everyone involved, Oshrat Horowitz, Sharon Fireman, Reut Mashiach, Hezi Sztainberg, Ph.D.,Orel Yaverbaum and Merav Marom, for their dedication to bringing this vision to life. During our workshops, we explored the transformative power of research and scientific writing Gen AI tools like Elicit, Connected Papers, QuillBot, Bit.ai, and Scite. We also had an interesting discussion about implementing enterprise Gen AI tools like ChatGPT Enterprise and Claude for enterprises, highlighting their potential to supercharge productivity and drive innovation across the board. However, as we discussed, with these advantages come responsibilities: ensuring accuracy, addressing privacy concerns, and balancing AI’s role alongside human creativity and expertise. **An Israeli Startup Entrepreneur’s Response to Darkness, Part II** Imagine someone asked you to go into a room and turn off the dark. ?!?! What would you do? Of course, you would turn on a light. And if they asked you to turn the dark back on, well, you would turn off the light. Because darkness does not have a switch – it has no ‘שימוש’. It is the absence of light, or the presence of light. You want less darkness? Well there is only one question to ask – one thing to do: Turn on a light. Most of the corporate business world deals with trying to turn off the dark. That is, they sit with the status quo, and move around existing technologies and resources in order to create different results. Not us entrepreneurs. No sir. No Ma’am. We light new lights. ‘ויהי אור’ – Let there be light.  We have these highly unusual spirits. Where others see painful gaps that must be managed, we imagine new solutions. Where others struggle with existing darkness, we find new ways to create light. The cool thing about light is, that unlike any other element, it multiplies without diminishing when you share it. It’s like my teacher, Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach once said: “If I pour you some water from my cup, now we both have half a cup (before, I had a full cup). But when I light your unlit candle with my flame, now we have two flames. And when we join them together, the sum is greater than either part. That’s us Israeli entrepreneurs. And the thing is, we have another crazy power.  I think it comes from us Jews waiting 2,000 years to return to our homeland, always believing it was going to happen “any day now!”  Yeah, doesn’t that sound like most startup founders that you know?? You see, it is in our DNA. We don’t do ‘hopelessness’. We are more tenacious than even Jack Black. ‘חוסן’ - 'Resilient' - is our middle name. So let’s remember who we are, my dear fellow members of the Israeli Startup Community. Our Nation needs our Superpower.  Let’s turn on those lights like never before. עם ישראל חי

Sitting quietly on the sidelines as the foundations of the civil world are shaken by Islamism (take 2, after WW2... If you’re a Muslim that fled Islamism to live in democracies like the U.S. or Israel, you especially are indebted to uphold the values of life, freedom, and the pursuit of happiness.
