**An Israeli Startup Entrepreneur’s Response to Darkness, Part II** Imagine someone asked you to go into a room and turn off the dark. ?!?! What would you do? Of course, you would turn on a light. And if they asked you to turn the dark back on, well, you would turn off the light. Because darkness does not have a switch – it has no ‘שימוש’. It is the absence of light, or the presence of light. You want less darkness? Well there is only one question to ask – one thing to do: Turn on a light. Most of the corporate business world deals with trying to turn off the dark. That is, they sit with the status quo, and move around existing technologies and resources in order to create different results. Not us entrepreneurs. No sir. No Ma’am. We light new lights. ‘ויהי אור’ – Let there be light. We have these highly unusual spirits. Where others see painful gaps that must be managed, we imagine new solutions. Where others struggle with existing darkness, we find new ways to create light. The cool thing about light is, that unlike any other element, it multiplies without diminishing when you share it. It’s like my teacher, Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach once said: “If I pour you some water from my cup, now we both have half a cup (before, I had a full cup). But when I light your unlit candle with my flame, now we have two flames. And when we join them together, the sum is greater than either part. That’s us Israeli entrepreneurs. And the thing is, we have another crazy power. I think it comes from us Jews waiting 2,000 years to return to our homeland, always believing it was going to happen “any day now!” Yeah, doesn’t that sound like most startup founders that you know?? You see, it is in our DNA. We don’t do ‘hopelessness’. We are more tenacious than even Jack Black. ‘חוסן’ - 'Resilient' - is our middle name. So let’s remember who we are, my dear fellow members of the Israeli Startup Community. Our Nation needs our Superpower. Let’s turn on those lights like never before. עם ישראל חי

Building a successful startup is no easy feat, especially when you're trying to do it alone. That's why the concept of mutual support is gaining traction in the entrepreneurial world. By working together, rather than in isolation, entrepreneurs can increase their chances of success and create a more supportive and vibrant ecosystem for startups to thrive. Sharing knowledge and resources, creating networking opportunities, providing emotional support, and collaborating on projects are just a few reasons why mutual support is so essential. As entrepreneurs, we have diverse skills, experiences, and knowledge. By coming together, we can collectively learn and grow while overcoming resource constraints. Entrepreneurship can be a lonely and challenging journey, filled with ups and downs. Having a supportive community of fellow entrepreneurs can provide emotional encouragement and motivation during difficult times. By embracing mutual support, we can foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and resilience within the entrepreneurial community. So let's work together and build success, not just for ourselves, but for each other too. #entrepreneurship #mutualsupport #startupsuccess

Friday Thoughts - Does Budget Uncertainty Create More Resilience in UK's Entrepreneurs? This week there has been a lot of uncertainty in the press about our economic future. In speaking to many SME founders and solopreneurs, the conversations has been mostly around the hesitation to commit to spending and the risk of entrepreneurs and high net worth individuals leaving the UK altogether. However, at the end of the week, I'd like to view these comments through a more positive lens. Could it be that budget uncertainty, while challenging, is also fostering a new era of innovation and adaptability? While it's true that venture capital flows have slowed, this has led to a renewed focus on bootstrapped ventures and sustainable business models. The "grow at all costs" mentality is being replaced by a more measured approach, ensuring that startups are better equipped to withstand economic fluctuations. For entrepreneurs, the key to success lies in resilience and adaptability. By optimising resources and demonstrating clear value propositions, startups can emerge from this turbulent period stronger than ever. I believe that the UK's entrepreneurial spirit remains undiminished. In fact, this challenging climate is forging a more resilient and innovative startup ecosystem. ❓ How has your startup or the startups you work with turned recent economic challenges into opportunities for growth and innovation? ❓ Looking ahead, what emerging trends or technologies do you believe will shape the next wave of successful UK startups? It's been two days of absorbing, reflection and intensive introspection, sparked by the more than insightful feedback obtained at the 'Founder Hotseat: Pitch Your Startup to Investors & Advisors', an event by Founder Institute Serbia. I cannot thank enough to Nedeljko Milosavljevic, PhD, RTTP, Rade Rakočević, PhD, Marko Mijatovic, Dejan Tonic, Djordje Filipovic, Vladimir Pavlovic, PhD, CFA and Filip Bovan, CFA for this. Standing in front of an audience filled with fellow entrepreneurs and tech enthusiasts and pitching the EventLens.app unique value proposal within a limited time frame really helped me refine my message. More importantly, the constructive feedback I received already inspired some improvements. This once again confirmed that getting an outside view of your project is more than beneficial for growth in the right direction. Last but not least, I must say that the energy felt during and after the event is truly contageous. Having discussed the matter over a drink after the event itself, I once again realized the importance of community and support that exists within the startup ecosystem. I encourage all fellow entrepreneurs to take advantage of such opportunities - check out the upcoming event at https://lnkd.in/e6fu-24n Whether you are just starting out or looking to scale, pitching at community events like this can provide invaluable benefits. Let's continue to support and learn from each other. #startup #pitching #networking #entrepreneurship #EventLens #community #CaptureTheMoment

Happy National Startup Day! On this special day dedicated to celebrating innovation and the entrepreneurial spirit, I want to salute all the trailblazers and visionaries who dare to dream big and transform ideas into reality. Entrepreneurs embody the true essence of grit, perseverance, and the 'getting s#*! done attitude.' They embrace challenges that would seem insurmountable to others and turn distant possibilities into tangible achievements. What sets entrepreneurs apart is their remarkable ability to navigate uncertainties, face setbacks head-on, and persist in the pursuit of their goals. The journey is not always smooth, and the path is often uncharted, but it's precisely this resilience that propels entrepreneurs forward. One of the key strengths of entrepreneurs lies in their talent for assembling a team of like-minded individuals who share the passion and dedication to turn a shared vision into reality. It's about building a community that believes in the mission and is ready to contribute their unique skills to the collective success. Yes, the risks are undeniably high in the world of startups, but so are the potential rewards. Business Therapist || Former Managing Partner of a $50M PE/VC fund || I catalyze changes you've needed long ago.
Any startup goes through the "Valley of Death." It's when expenses and problems pile up, but revenues are still nowhere to be seen. This time is full of discomfort, hard work, and worries. Rarely does a founder have an investor with bottomless pockets, or sells their product with ease. You just need to survive the "Valley of Death." Chances are slim, but they're there. This period is a test. It separates true entrepreneurs from those who just want to seem like one. True entrepreneurs are willing to sacrifice almost everything to realize their Wow-idea. Others are happy to be a "founder and CEO" for a year or two. In other words, for an entrepreneur, the supreme value is the Business. Everything else comes second: ego, health, savings, relationships, comforts, habits, beliefs, and so on. That's why a person emerges from the "Valley of Death" transformed. This journey is universal. Whether you've changed careers, moved to a new country, or rediscovered yourself, you'll face a dark phase of despair. Remember, this phase helps you answer the question: "How much do I really want my goal?" ==== Illustration: Maya Land I write about value creation, freedom, and meaning. 🗝🗝🗝

"Hard facts, need to accepted and to be lived." I reached these conclusion after working with entrepreneurs and startups founders who could not make up over the years after they failed, not just once but multiple times and failed to recover from the series of failures. What I have learnt is that there is precious little evidence that failure helps people learn to be successful. In majority cases, what passes for evidence are the hand-picked stories of famous failed entrepreneurs who became successful business entrepreneurs later on. And we conveniently forget the far larger number of entrepreneurs who failed and didn’t get to tell their tale. Their failure stories no more interest media or publishers to write few lines or few paragraphs about their hardwork and their undoubted dedication to write success stories of their startups but not lucky enough to create a success story or glorified failure stories. #startupfailure #startuphurdles #startupchalkenges

What does building up a startup requires?🤔 Tough answers, may be to satisfy the audience we may agree on some of the points but at the end it's just the demand which drives the success. Considering what a new entrepreneur seek we can agree on following pointers: --Problem Statement:Finding solutions of common man problem through your startup can help you establish well in the market. --Capital:This is the main factor which sometimes can limit your growth. --Good Friends/Competitors:Good and healthy friendship and competition can help you adjust betterly in the market. Though third pointers may seem subjective but I believe cooperation and comparison are two driven forces to actually land you at a place which is beyond the reach of an individual hand. Although debate of what needs to build a startup doesn't end here. Your suggestion are welcome in the comments.
