Last week Bria was ranked #20 of the most promising startups in Israel, kudos to the team! It is a long journey to build a startup. At 8 years old, I fell in love with mathematics, and at that point, I knew that's what I'd get my PhD in. That passion not only shaped my academic path but also ignited my interest in visual technologies and AI, which led me to pursue a PhD in computer vision. During my studies, I began to realise just how much the future of content would change with AI coming into the mix. Fast-forward to 2020, during COVID and before the Gen AI hype, I combined my understanding of how visuals can be generated with AI and the valuable enterprise experience I gained in my previous role at Trax Retail, to co-establish an AI startup called BRIA. We had one simple goal: To make it easy for any individual and company to generate the exact visuals needed for any use. Our key objective in helping you achieve this is to ensure that we provide you with a transparent, open, and responsible AI platform trained solely on licensed data, no public figures and deep fake, no privacy infringement. And in a world where more than 43% of people don't trust companies to use AI morally, Responsible AI use has never been more important. In building BRIA, we've been able to help businesses all over the world scale their content development process. And what gets me even more excited is that we've been able to partner with different creators to ensure that their creativity is respected, rewarded, and isn't pirated. We trained our own high quality foundation models and built the core tools of Generative AI so everyone can use it. The journey so far has been anything but linear, and I'm eager to continue sharing the innovative features we're developing, discuss the critical importance of Responsible AI, and explore how you can leverage our platform to its fullest potential. Traceloop is growing! We're excited to welcome Yaniv Tenzer who joins us from Meta AI as our VP of Research! Yaniv holds a PhD from the Hebrew University and has built data science teams from scratch at companies like Lightricks. He's a true genius and one of a kind. In his own words: "I am passionate about solving data-driven problems and, more generally, research in the fields of statistics and machine learning. I also enjoy teaching courses in those fields. Aside from data, I have a great interest in psychology and, in particular, in interpersonal relationships and decision-making processes. Finally, I enjoy baking, and a carrot cake is my favorite (with a lot of cream cheese frosting!!)"

So... the Israeli tech machine is finally moving towards focusing on the early-stage: The Startups Forum (part of the Israeli Hi-Tech Association איגוד ההיי-טק הישראלי) was launched and that's great news for us all. How My Competitor’s $2M Raise Proved Me Right 2 years ago, I envisioned an AI-powered product sourcing agent to empower small and medium-sized retailers — those without large teams or deep cross-domain expertise — to reduce sourcing time, mitigate risks and stay ahead of market trends. After relocating to Israel, I took the plunge: assembled a team of ambitious immigrant talent, conducted in-depth market research and 30+ customer interviews, left my job, and invested my own $7K to bring this vision to life. We've worked tirelessly, and just a month before our beta launch, I discovered a competing startup, founded by former Amazon, Google and Stripe employees, that launched on September 13 after raising $2M in a pre-seed round from XYZ Venture Capital, Propel Ventures and Go Global Ventures. No significant traction, no real product — just a raw beta and social media posts filled with Midjourney-generated images. Instead of viewing this as a setback, it validated my vision. The fact that 2 similar projects emerged simultaneously proves there's a growing demand for solutions like ours. If large-scale teams are also pursuing this, it confirms that the market is ripe for transformation, and I’m proud to have been thinking in the same direction. For months, I battled impostor syndrome (not anymore), but this proves that innovative thinking isn't exclusive to industry giants. I arrived at the same solution independently, driven by data, passion and conviction, and ahead of the global AI hype. I may not have the corporate pedigree or deep pockets, but I do have something equally powerful: an amazing team, long-term vision, entrepreneurial resilience and unwavering support from my wife. I believe our product will inject fresh competition into the market, benefiting everyone. Amazing news for Israel, but maybe not so great news for the Israeli tech scene? Ilya Sutskever Raises $1 Billion for his New AI Venture! Bottom Line: Ilia Sutskever, one of OpenAI’s co-founders, has raised $1 billion for his new company, which aims to develop Super-Intelligence—an AI that can outperform human cognitive tasks with much (much) greater intelligence and efficiency. Just three months after announcing his new venture—Safe SuperIntelligence (which I wrote about previously) — it was revealed just a few days ago that Sutskever, a former Israeli and one of the brightest minds in the industry, has secured $1 billion at a $5 billion valuation. The funding round, of course, includes some of the most renowned investors in the world (Andreessen Horowitz, Sequoia Capital, and others). Sutskever founded the venture alongside @Daniel Levy, who worked with him at OpenAI, and investor @Daniel Gross. Pay attention to the word *Safe* in the company's name—it’s a core part of the mission these entrepreneurs have set for themselves. Sutskever says the company is laser-focused on one goal: creating the "holy grail" of AI research—Artificial General Intelligence (AGI)—which would be capable of performing any cognitive process humans can, including language processing, voice recognition, vision, understanding context, decision-making, and more. You can check out their minimalist website for more about their mission. Great news for Israel: The development center will be based both in Israel and Palo Alto. Slightly less great news for the local tech scene: A well-funded company is about to recruit top researchers, scientists, and developers locally.  Bigger picture — this is a big wow for all of us here in Israel. Steve Jobs' Legacy vs. Apple Today: Would He Agree? As Apple faces allegations of sending employee donations to organizations with ties to the Israeli army and illegal settlements, one must ask: Would Steve Jobs, the visionary who revolutionized technology, stand by Apple's current actions? A recent report revealed that Apple fully covers wages for employees who go to serve in the Israeli military, directly supporting the atrocities taking place in Gaza. These donations reportedly fund military activities and illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank, despite Apple's stated commitment to human rights.
