Thank you for the opportunity to talk about Israeli EdTech and AI. I'm happy to collaborate with Ortal, who leads the important community on innovation in education for the Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Technology. The goal is to create a connection between the discourse on AI applications in education and entrepreneurs who are busy in their daily lives adapting technology in general, and generative AI tools in particular, to education and learning. And why is this connection important? After all, we have ChatGPT, Claude, Midjourney, and many more. So, seemingly, any teacher, lecturer, student, learner, or institution can create personalized lessons, chatbots, get answers to any question, easily generate many images, and illustrate any situation. Without any problem at all. So why do we need the solutions of startups in the EdTech field? Well, it's not as simple as the marketing shows. A lot of thought, pedagogical knowledge combined with technological knowledge, and work hours are invested in adapting these generic tools to the various needs of education and learning systems. For example, ensuring data privacy and safety, limiting content and smart navigation within it, understanding what educators need, building processes within an infinity of information and knowledge, processing knowledge and information in a compatible way. And much more. Each entrepreneur in the field they chose to focus on. The world of education and learning is a professional field in itself, and therefore technological solutions need to be adapted in this aspect to the language, culture, and specific needs, otherwise they will be rejected. At the webinar, two entrepreneurs will present very interesting solutions that combine artificial intelligence, education, and learning: Slice knowledge and Storywizard.ai. It's worth getting to know them. See you there. Link to the meeting in the first comment. Shahar Tabib Ofir Kerker ortal shmaltz @edutech Shmal

"I try my hardest to turn everything I do into a funnel" One of the most important takeaways from our most recent episode with Tal Mishaly, Head of Product Marketing & Growth at Guardio, is that being measurable is a state of mind. Link to the full (Hebrew) episode in the comment. If a channel you're owning, an asset you're maintaining, a project you're running - don't come with built-in measurements, come up with significant touch points that you can use to "draw" a linear funnel and identify cohorts. This might feel forced or even counter productive at first, but this will signal 3 things to your organization: 1. You're a deep-digger that doesn't settle for surface level insights 2. You're goal-driven even if those have to be manufactured from scratch 3. You won't think of saying "it's really difficult to measure so I didn't" So how do you handle the inherent difficulty in measuring PMM work (even more so in B2B)? How do you personally bridge the measurement gap?

How do you know a conference was successful? At the EdTech Prime Time International Conference the energy in the room rivaled the ideas shared on stage, and that to me was a clear sign. This event was a whirlwind of impactful keynotes, innovative education solutions, startup pitches and deep discussions about the future of learning. These video highlights reflect a glimpse of all that! #EdTech #EdTechPrimeTime #GESAwards #AIInEducation #FutureofLearning

✨ Every Great Leader Started as Someone's Student What if I told you that behind every breakthrough innovation lies not just a brilliant idea, but a conversation that changed everything? I was deeply moved when Adi Loloi, a promising entrepreneur from Tel Aviv University - Coller School of Management, interviewed me recently. His questions weren't just about success - they were about transformation, about that magical moment when potential meets possibility. For over a decade, I've witnessed these transformations firsthand. Like the traditional maintenance company that discovered their true superpower wasn't in their services, but in their data - opening doors to #AI #innovation they never imagined possible. Or the passionate #EdTech founders who turned their government grant into a platform that's changing how we learn. But here's what truly lights the fire of innovation: 🔥 It's not just about the wins. It's about those electric moments when founders realize they're capable of so much more than they imagined. When their eyes light up with possibilities they hadn't dared to dream of. The real magic? It's always in the people: - Their unstoppable drive for success - Their courage to challenge conventions - Their readiness to embark on an extraordinary journey - Their willingness to truly listen and learn You see, at the heart of every success story is a relationship that transcends business - a connection built on trust, understanding, and the belief that something remarkable is possible. 💫 Remember: Your next breakthrough isn't just waiting in your business plan or market strategy. Sometimes, it's in that one conversation that helps you see what you're truly capable of. Because the greatest leaders? They're not born. They're awakened - through guidance, challenge, and someone believing in their potential before they fully see it themselves. What conversation changed everything for you? Share your story below 🌟 #LeadershipJourney #Mentorship #StartupSuccess #Entrepreneurship #Innovation

I swear, you can’t make this stuff up!! So, for a while, I wanted to share something that I’ve learned, that I am sure very few people are aware of, and that is the perks of studying in Israeli university. I think we can both agree that U.S. campuses are no longer safe for many people. Well, I had learned about all these perks, and I wanted to write a post and share them with you, but the thing is, posts generally need some sort of visual with them, if they’re going to get traction. So, I needed a picture of a student, someone who has experienced these perks. The only issue is, I don’t know one. So I was sitting on this post wondering where I’d find someone to snap a photo with. Then this happened! Five minutes ago, I’m walking in Tel Aviv to my first meeting, and this kind gentleman stops me, and says “Hey, are you Hillel Fuld? “ I responded, “I am indeed, who are you?” He says, “I’m just a fan.” I responded, “No, you’re not, what’s your name?” He tells me his name is Gavin. “Cool, and what do you do?” He then tells me that he is studying in Israel as part of a partnership with Columbia university!!! Jackpot! Unbelievable. I told him that I was looking for a picture with a student, and it is mind-boggling to me that he just stopped me. Here is the picture of me and Gavin. And now to the topic itself. Ok, so Israel is awesome. I don’t think I need to convince you of that. But, Israel is not just a land of ancient history and gorgeous scenery. It is not even only the land of tech. It’s also a hub for innovative education. Who knew? I’ll admit, I didn’t. With 61 higher education institutions, including 10 universities and 51 colleges, this country offers a diverse range of programs that cater to every academic interest. And here’s the best part: If you’re an Oleh Chadash (a new immigrant), you might be eligible for FREE tuition! Yes. Free. The Israeli government, through the Student Authority under the Ministry of Aliyah and Integration, provides a benefits package that could cover your tuition fees. Nefesh B'Nefesh and the Student Authority are dedicated to helping young Olim achieve their academic dreams in Israel. Here are some of the things they offer: - Educational guidance and counseling - Fully subsidized preparation programs - Financial aid in the form of scholarships for those who qualify And… They pay up to standard tuition fees, which means you could be studying your undergraduate program or advancing to a graduate degree for FREE. Not done. University preparatory programs are covered, too! So if you, like all normal people, are shocked and appalled by what’s going on on U.S. campuses, and if you love Israel, but think that getting your degree here is less relevant, check out this link for more info! https://lnkd.in/eYHbdXYX And thanks Gavin for volunteering to make sure this post reaches far and wide! 🇮🇱🙏💪✡️❤️🔥

Startup Nation Central's H1 2024 Report is out! The report highlights how despite the challenges, the Israeli tech ecosystem has shown remarkable resilience and growth in the first half of 2024. Drawing from the business-engagement platform, Finder, the data shows a resilient and vibrant ecosystem, despite the challenges. Here are some key insights: 📈Private funding in H1 2024 saw a remarkable 31% increase, totaling $5.1 billion. 📈 It is the first time since the 2021 bubble that the trend is upward, showing that Israel is more influenced by global trends than by its local turmoil (for this parameter specifically) 📈Cybersecurity alone represents 52% of private funding 📈M&A exits surged to $4.1 billion, marking a 70% increase from H2 2023. It would be interesting to look at valuations and read the story behind the acquisitions. 📈Global investors participated in rounds accounting for 93% of all funding 📈 The ecosystem is gaining in maturity: more companie are public (despite a flat H1 IPOs), and we see more startups growing into unicorn and refusing to exit to larger, foreign groups (notoriously Wizz) 🌟 Fun fact: Historically, Israel's private investment in tech roughly represent 5% of the US tech investments at all time. Some more mind-boggling statistics about the resilience of the Israeli people. Despite half the country being in reserves, here are some numbers and facts that might blow your mind. Israel’s economy surged with 3.8% growth in Q3 2024, proving its resilience and strength (Reuters). Nvidia’s groundbreaking Israel-1 supercomputer and 3,000-strong workforce cement the country as a tech powerhouse (Calcalist). Intel’s $15 billion investment in Kiryat Gat underscores Israel’s unmatched dominance in chip manufacturing (Globes). Israel keeps inflation in check at 3.5%, staying ahead of global economic pressures (Reuters). With a population of 9.94 million and steady growth, Israel’s future is bright and unstoppable (IMF). Ranked 5th happiest globally in 2024, Israel’s people thrive despite the challenges (Times of Israel). Over half of Israel’s exports come from its high-tech sector, dominating the global innovation scene (Statista). Israel’s credit rating remains rock-solid in 2024, defying global uncertainty and proving its economic stability (AP News). Israelis live longer with an average lifespan of 83 years, reflecting a world-class quality of life (World Bank). Israel’s natural gas reserves are set to turn it into a global energy leader by 2025 (Reuters). God said to Abraham, “Those who bless you will be blessed…” The resilience of the Israeli people defies logic and reason. These are some modern day open miracles we’re seeing.

Interesting questions arise with the adoption of #AI - Not only do the questions include dilemmas of who should receive a ticket when an #autonomousCar makes a mistake, Similar questions can arise when dealing with #AIinFinance. For instance, Who should be charged if an #investmentAI leads to investors losses, or appears to have used insider data? Similarly, who should be investigated, if a #lendingAI discriminates between potential lenders (based for instance on past statistics profiling)? We'll be talking about these aspects of AI in #finance and #banking, during the upcoming #lectures this Thursday, and next week. Would love to hear your thoughts in the comments in the meantime! Cybersecurity giant Wiz has announced a deal to buy Israeli-founded cybersecurity startup Dazz for $450 million, marking its third acquisition in a year. - by Frederic Eger - Photo: Founders of Israeli-founded startup Dazz (from left to right): Yuval Ofir (VP R&D), Merav Bahat (CEO), and Tomer Schwartz (CTO). (Courtesy) - Dazz, headquartered in Palo Alto with offices in Tel Aviv and New York, has developed a remediation platform that uses generative AI technologies for root-cause analysis of fast-evolving security threats. The AI platform is geared to automate the process of detecting, prioritizing, and fixing security vulnerabilities for businesses that use cloud services "in hours instead of weeks." Wiz said that the acquisition is part of its strategy to become a multi-product cybersecurity firm. With the integration of the startup's AI-driven risk prioritization and remediation software, Wiz seeks to bolster its cloud security platform to help security and engineering teams trace cloud issues back to their origin and mitigate breaches with a short response time. Wiz has raised a total of $110 million from investors, including Greylock Partners, Insight Partners, Index Ventures, and Cyberstarts. The startup employs 115 people, of whom 60 are based in Israel. The acquisition marks Wiz's third in a year, following its acquisition of Israeli cloud detection and response startup Gem Security in early 2024 and Tel Aviv cloud-based developer collaboration platform Rafft at the end of 2023. Wiz raised $1 billion in its latest private funding round in May to expand its cloud security platform through mergers and acquisitions, talent recruitment, and product development. The four-year-old unicorn was recently valued at a staggering $12 billion. In July, Wiz made big headlines as it walked away from a $23 billion acquisition offer by Google parent company Alphabet. Instead, the company is embarking on a growth path to double its annual recurring revenue (ARR) to $1 billion by 2025 and is eyeing plans for an initial public offering (IPO).

Founders of US-based VC-backed companies who graduated from the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology are 21 times more likely than average to achieve unicorn status in the US. Odds ratios for other universities in Israel: Reichman University: 10.5 more likely The Hebrew University of Jerusalem: 5.9 Tel Aviv University: 5.6 Ben-Gurion University of the Negev: 5.2 In three cases – Tsinghua University, Fudan University, and Savitribai Phule Pune University – we could not determine a ratio because EVERY founder graduating from these universities ended up with a unicorn (at least, in our sample)! These are all astonishing odds. The following schools with at least 10 founders among their undergraduate students also had good odds of producing unicorn founders: Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (3.0 times more likely than average) Bar-Ilan University (2.2) Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (2.0) University of Waterloo (1.6) Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani (1.6) Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (1.4) Queen's University (1.4) Any other universities you expected to see in this post? Thank you to the Stanford University Graduate School of Business Venture Capital Initiative team for spearheading this research. Note: In our sample of 2,897 founders of 1,110 US-based VC-backed unicorns, 607 founders earned a bachelor’s degree outside the US. Among the 2,337 founders from the random sample of 1,027 US-based VC-backed companies, 345 did so. Undergraduates from the Israel Institute of Technology include 26 unicorn founders and 1 random sample founder. Dividing one on the other, and correcting for the different number of unicorn founders and random sample founders, the odds ratio is 21. #stanford #stanfordgsb #venturecapital #startups #innovation #technology

Fiverr and #Israel A lot of people have suggested that I expand my business of Marketing Brand Broadcasting® to Fiverr, but I want to share my thoughts on why I have chosen not to do so. Has anyone noticed that Fiverr's headquarters are in Israel? By using Fiverr, are we essentially funding and supporting a company that contributes to the oppression of Palestinians? It's concerning that despite Pakistan's stance against Israel and the explicit refusal to recognize Israeli passports, Pakistanis are still engaging in work on Israeli platforms. Shouldn't we hold ourselves accountable for this instead of solely blaming the government? We often express support for leaders like Nawaz Sharif, Zardari Imran Khan, but would he ever endorse working on Israeli platforms or using Israeli products? Highly unlikely. Therefore, those already earning on Fiverr should consider transitioning to alternative platforms over time. And for those considering starting as freelancers, it's urged not to create accounts on Fiverr. Given Israel's actions in Palestine and the potential targeting of other Muslim countries in the future, it's crucial to think about the implications of supporting such platforms financially. Israel has a history of oppressing Muslims, and it's time to consider the long-term consequences of our choices. #linkedin #world #peace #linkedinfamily #life #wednesdaythoughts #muslims #freepalestine #fiver

At Sparkles24 Skills Academy , we emphasize a critical principle for success: to be a creator, not a consumer. Those who build innovative products and services, like the founders of Netflix, are the ones who generate wealth. They create platforms where millions engage and pay for access, thus flipping the traditional model of consumerism. We believe it’s essential for students to grasp this powerful concept. By teaching them to become creators—whether in business, technology, or media—we empower them to shape the world around them and carve their path to financial independence and success.

Over the past decade, I have reviewed over 1,000 cv's in search for the best team members to join our team. I see a lot of people in Israel in need of jobs these days so sharing some tips from my experience as a manager and Organizational Psychologist that I hope can be helpful. If you have any questions or additional insights, please feel free to comment below or pm me. I divided the job-seeking journey into 4 stages: 1. Self-reflection 2. CV building 3. Networking 4. “Dating” your future boss In this post I will cover some pointers for the first 3 stages. Next post will cover pointers for the last stage. *Self-reflection* 1. Self-reflection and understanding what you are good at and what you are passionate about. 2. Who are you - Need to be able to answer this in 2-3 lines at the top of the CV. Are you a manager and looking to be in a leadership role or more of a hands-on executive? Is your focus marketing/sales/coding/project management? Pro tip: Ask your friends to be honest with you and share the value they see you bring. It will crystalize your own view as well. *CV and LinkedIn profile* 1. CV building - how does your future boss know you are great at what you do? What success and impact did you have that you can articulate with numbers? 2. The design is great. But the most important is the content. Make sure clear description in the header what you do and keep it short, with bullet points and a 1-pager. Make sure no mistakes. If there is even 1 typo, it is a no-go. 3. Passion talks. Years ago I hired a young man with very little experience because he came with great passion and told me how he taught himself code at age 11. See how you can find that story that highlights your greatness. *Networking* 1. Networking and asking friends for an intro or to put in a good word. Identify 10 people you will have coffee with to brainstorm your career. Some will give you great advice. Others will give you a good lead. 2. Don't only think about networking with those who can give you the job today but rather with those who know people that can help you. 3. The best way to build trust is to show your work in action. I once hired someone because he reached out and explained to me in a loom video why one of my client websites stinked and how that can be fixed. He didn't tell me what he does but showed me. What tips have you found as a manager that you would give future employees?

Former NBA player Omri Casspi has raised $60 million in seed capital to invest in early-stage startups and companies founded by Israeli serial entrepreneurs developing technologies in cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, and artificial intelligence. - by Frederic Eger/Sharon Wrobel/TOI - Photo: Then Memphis Grizzlies forward Omri Casspi in action during an NBA basketball game against the Philadelphia 76ers, December 2, 2018, in Philadelphia. (AP/Matt Slocum) Swish Ventures is Casspi's second seed venture capital fund after stepping onto the court of tech investments two years ago following his retirement from professional basketball as the first Israeli player to break through in the NBA. The new fund hopes to invest $5 million to $7 million in about 10 startups each. Among Swish’s investors are venture capital fund Sequoia, Israeli and US institutional investors, and more than 25 serial entrepreneurs, including EON founder Ophir Ehrlich, PointFive founder Gal Ben-David, Upwind co-founder Amiram Shachar, Granulate (sold to Intel) co-founder Asaf Ezra, and Armis founders Yevgeny Dibrov and Nadir Izrael.
