Through the perspective we see daily in Iron Nation we meet Israeli entrepreneurs more determined and resilient then ever to succussed and create a better future. Possibly justifying all the pain and sacrifice we went through as a country and individuals What you did not address (next article…)  how the VC eco system supports and drives these Giraffes especially with a relative short pay back model in VC for limited partners.  How did the VC model support the 6 US giraffes? and do we allow more patient funding to make this a reality.

Due to the events in Israel, I've been getting many questions from Founders & CEOs about fundraising and building partnerships in the US. Having worked there for 12 years, summarizing the key points from the conversations here: 1. As the United States is more isolated than Europe, Americans are less exposed to war and global issues, which can make them more sensitive to them. It’s important to address this head-on and explain what life is like in Israel and the real impact. Although your U.S. counterparts may be polite, they will most likely be concerned about it. 2. U.S. companies are known to sign deals faster than other regions such as in APAC or EMEA. For this reason, it’s important to respond quickly to messages, with accurate information, and to be prepared. Structure the deal quickly and carefully – this is in contrast to a place like China, where you might work on the relationship for many months and start business proceedings. In the U.S., the business takes precedent over the relationship i.e. the merits of the deal. 3. I’ve seen Israelis assume that they are similar in professional style to Americans, but this is typically not the case. Israelis can be perceived as casual, direct, and sometimes arrogant; and we need to be aware of that. It can help if you’re able to work with someone who has experience in both worlds and can navigate cultures. 4. To sign a large deal or partnership, traveling to the U.S. is typically required. Being there to shake hands is very important, and most investors will not agree to a deal without multiple physical meetings to create both a personal and professional relationship. #StartupNationCentral - a non-profit promoting #Israelitechnology - has launched a great marketmap of Israeli defense companies and startups. The map features over 160 companies, as well as thematic accelerators and investors. You can share it with your friends or save it for yourself. How to use the map: 1. Companies are grouped by themes, and in this case, marked by their focus (pure defense or civilian use as well). 2. Identify the groups that resonate with you, select a logo, and start your research. 3. If a company interests you, follow them and relevant employees on LinkedIn and try to establish contact.

IVC Data and Insights report on the Israeli venture market for Q1-Q3 2024 reveals: - $7.4 billion invested in Israeli startups, surpassing the entire 2023 total of $6.9 billion. - $13 billion generated from exits, a 26% increase from 2023's $10.4 billion. - 23% surge in foreign investments year-over-year. - 67% of capital sourced from global investors, with 33% from Israeli funds. - $2.7 billion secured by early-stage startups, the second-highest figure in Israeli startup ecosystem history (after 2022's record). These figures demonstrate investors' confidence in the long-term sustainability of the Israeli startup ecosystem. Trust received, challenge accepted. We're building the future, brick by brick.

October 2024 in Israeli tech funding: $987 million in 26 deals Israeli startups rebounded in a big way last month, with three companies completing mega-rounds of over $100 million. Around $1 billion were raised by Israeli startups across 26 deals during October. After two straight months in which local companies failed to reach $500 million, three mega rounds by the likes of Armis ($200M), Melio ($150M) and DoorLoop ($100M) ensured that local tech companies once more had the $1 billion threshold within their sights. Is the Israeli business community truly ready for high-achieving Haredi professionals to take leadership roles in the tech ecosystem? We are, as Safra-Tech’s mission is to integrate Haredi professionals into the tech ecosystem, with a focus on #entrepreneurship and #startups We're not merely asking how we can slot Haredi workers into low-level roles… we're asking a far more ambitious question: How can we make Haredi society a key stakeholder in the tech ecosystem? It’s not about individual Haredi employees entering the tech world… it’s about a shift in Israeli society’s perspective, becoming key influencers and decision-makers, and having the ability to progress, to secure better jobs, and to make a real impact This is a wake-up call, not just for Haredi society, but also for the wider Israeli business community. As an example, the current #VC scene (which drives tech) in Israel is centralized, steeped in a Tel Aviv culture that brings with it its own mindset and politics To effect real change, we need to alter the landscape itself Aside from giving it lip service, does Israeli society truly want integration? Is the business sector ready for Haredi professionals to become C-level executives, managers, and policy influencers? If the answer is no, then we need to ask ourselves why… Why are we content with Haredi employees occupying low-level roles, but not decision-making positions? To catalyze progress, we need outside investors who understand the need for change, who are willing to provide the financial backing necessary to make this vision a reality. This cannot be left to the same players who have dominated the scene so far.
