  • ☀️❄️ Today is the Winter Solstice! For people living in the Northern Hemisphere, December 21 marks the shortest day and longest night of the year, as well as the start of winter. Fun fact—in ancient times, growers used the changing length of days to mark their place in the year. This knowledge was vital as it helped them plant seeds at the right time. Starting too early risked crops being ruined by harsh weather, while planting too late didn't give them enough time to grow and harvest. Winter is more than a season of rest—it’s a season of preparation. This is the time to plan, strategize and choose the right crop solutions to set up a successful growing season ahead. Let’s make the most of the promise that longer days bring! 🌾 #WinterSolstice #GrowingSeason #NorthernGrowers #AllSeasonAg

💪 Who’s your favorite unsung hero—the one who works tirelessly behind the scenes but often goes unnoticed? Ours is—you guessed it, soil! It nurtures crops, supports biodiversity, regulates the climate and ensures food security for a growing global population. In fact, our name, "ADAMA," is the Hebrew word for "soil", highlighting our commitment to preserving and protecting this essential resource. Last year, more than 900 C.U.I.D.A events were conducted, training over 25,000 individuals in crop protection best practices to promote soil health and sustainable farming. Thanks for your commitment to driving meaningful change and preserving natural resources, ADAMA Brazil. This year, for #WorldSoilDay let’s focus on: 🌱 Spreading awareness about the importance of soil conservation 🌱 🌎 Advocating for sustainable farming practices 🌳 Participating in soil restoration and tree planting initiatives Join us in promoting the importance of soil health for a more sustainable future. 🌶 Chilli is a major agricultural export for India, contributing to 38% of total spice exports and 31% of foreign exchange earnings. Which is more reason chilli growers should be on #PestWatch for Thrips parvispinus—also known as Black Thrips. Here’s why it matters: 💡 Black Thrips are supposedly linked to upsurge of diseases such as Anthracnose and Powdery mildew, as Thrips are known to predispose the fruits to secondary infection. 💡 This pest can weaken the fruit, making it more susceptible to these diseases, causing further damage to crops. 💡 Andhra Pradesh, with its chilli-producing districts of Guntur, Prakasam, Krishna and Kurnool, accounts for 92% of the state's chilli production. 💡 Black Thrips feed on tender flowers, causing large scale shedding of flowers, stunting and malformation of fruits and fruit drop in chilli, leading to severe yield loss. For growers who believe their crop is threatened by Black Thrips, it is critical to take action to manage the spread of this pest. We are committed to providing innovative crop protection solutions to protect both growers’ livelihood and valuable export markets like chilli that are enjoyed around the world. 🌍 What strategies have you found most effective in managing pests like Black Thrips in chilli crops? Share your insights in the comments below! 👇
