Read this article by my colleague Stephen Redmond about the readiness of Irish companies for AI-driven transformation based on the survey conducted in May of this year. IBM announced the release of #Granite 3.0 AI models at annual TechXchange event. These models, designed for high performance, transparency, and safety, are available under the Apache 2.0 open-source license. The Granite 3.0 lineup includes general-purpose models, safety-focused Guardian models, and lightweight Mixture-of-Experts models. They excel in enterprise tasks like retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), classification, and entity extraction. Granite 3.0 models outperformed similar-sized models in benchmarks from Meta and Mistral, with reduced costs for enterprises. The release also introduces Granite Guardian models for risk detection and safety guardrails, outperforming Meta's Llama Guard models. IBM’s Granite models support time series forecasting, cybersecurity, and expanded AI integration into partner platforms like AWS and Google Cloud. IBM also expanded its AI-powered delivery platform, IBM Consulting Advantage, integrating Granite 3.0 to help maximize client value in AI and cloud transformation projects. #IBM's #Labradorite and #Merlinite models not only #outperformed #chatbots aligned on human-generated data, but also models aligned on significantly more synthetic data, including #Microsoft's #Orca-2_chatbot, which was trained on 15 million instructions generated by the behemoth #GPT-4 model.
