We are proud to support and sponsor Vision Ireland’s 2024 Tree of Light Campaign and contribute towards the gift of independence through technology. With a significant employment gap facing those with vision impairments, technology, often taken for granted, plays a crucial role in enabling independence for people like Jake, a 23-year-old with less than 20% vision. Jake is currently pursuing a QQI Level 5 course in Business Administration and is keen to enter the workforce. For Jake and many others, devices such as the iPhone and assistive tools like the Habel One, a wireless braille keyboard, are not just gadgets but essential lifelines that support their educational and career ambitions. By supporting you not only light up a bulb on the Tree of Light but also illuminate a path toward independence for someone like Jake through assistive technology. This support is crucial in helping individuals with sight loss integrate into the workforce and live full, independent lives. Last night, The Wayfinding Centre was showcased on RTE's Nationwide, highlighting the incredible work being done to support individuals with access or mobility barriers. The segment featured our own Chantelle Smith, Kevin Kelly and Denis Nolan and a service user bravely sharing their experience of losing vision and learning to navigate the world without sight. The Wayfinding Centre, the first of its kind globally, provides essential training for individuals on how to use public transport confidently, fostering independence and accessibility. The episode also shone a spotlight on the services available to visually impaired individuals in Ireland, emphasising the importance of accessibility across the Ireland and encouraging those in need to seek support.
