Last month saw the 7th edition of Sustainable Finance Week Ireland, supported by Skillnet Ireland, proudly sponsored by AIB and coordinated by ISFCOE - International Sustainable Finance Centre of Excellence. The week saw a range of great conversations focused on Transition and Nature Finance, Social and Gender Finance and AI. Thank you to all of our supporters and sponsors, Maples, ILIM, Arthur Cox, Euronext, IoB, Aviva, S&P and Philip Lee. And a big thank you to the team at the CBI for hosting the European Leg of the Global UNDP Insurance Summit. On a personal note, this SFWI was my last as I finish up here at the end of the year, it's been a pleasure collaborating with so many great leaders, and to see so much progress in this space over the past number of years. I'm looking forward to seeing the series progress further in 2025. The UN convened Global Sustainable Insurance Summit at the Central Bank of Ireland proved to be a meaningful day bringing together a wide range of topics around how insurance must play a pivotal role in driving the Sustainability agenda. Insurance contributes strongly in building resilient societies and has the power to influence positive change. The Summit was well attended by the UN, regulators and other policymakers and insurance providers amongst others. I was pleased to convey the importance of Health and how we can incentivise healthy behaviours to change the nature of risk and increase healthy life expectancy. If we can reduce the disease burden in this way it also has the positive effect of reducing demand for healthcare and hence the emissions associated with this. We know that the climate emergency is also a health emergency and it is critical that we advance preventative risk measures to support a better world and contribute positively towards the UN SDGs. Well done to Butch Bacani at the UN and all participants that are championing this cause. #Sustainability Central Bank of Ireland Butch Bacani Ricardo Lara Lauretta Filangieri Bruno Lepoivre Isabelle Moulin Sharon Donnery Stephen Nolan Mardi McBrien Gabrielle Durisch Coenraad Vrolijk

Last Wednesday, our co-founder & CEO Coenraad Vrolijk was invited by the ISFCOE - International Sustainable Finance Centre of Excellence to Dublin to discuss "how insurance can enable climate solutions and reduce risks as industries transition to sustainability". Coenraad shared the stage with Gabrielle Durisch (Allianz), Steven Whiddett (Aon), Alex Campbell (Long Duration Energy Storage Council (LDES Council)) & Butch Bacani (United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI)) to discuss the critical role of insurance in the transition to net zero. Insurance is present in every mature industry, and carbon markets should be no different. Coenraad emphasized that insurance will enable developers, buyers, and investors to invest with confidence in carbon markets and to allow those markets to scale by providing a centralized, efficient, and regulated risk-bearing capacity.
