For years, we've known about the gut-brain connection, but what about the gut-brain-skin connection? This emerging field of 'neurocosmetics' is all about understanding how what we eat can influence our skin's health and appearance. I recently had the pleasure of diving into the science behind it, exploring the potential of products that target specific skin concerns, like reducing discomfort and alleviating stress-related issues. The biggest takeaway for me is the importance of collaboration between social science, data science, and life science to fully understand how these molecules work. I'm personally so passionate about the potential of neurocosmetics to revolutionise skincare and been honoured to contribute to two publications on this topic: the Nutrition Business Journal (NBJ) and Vitafoods Insights. What a fabulous two days at Food ingredients Europe! Not only did our founder, Raphaëlle O'CONNOR take to the stage to present the latest in functional beverages, she also took part in the panel discussion on rediscovering the power of untapped ingredients.
