As the year comes to a close, we’re reflecting on some of Frontline’s key achievements over the past 12 months. Here’s a snapshot of what we’ve been up to: 🆕 We've raised and started deploying 2 new funds, backing 12 new companies over the course of the year, including the brilliant teams at StrongDM, Regal.ai, Roboflow and Loadar. 🚀 We've doubled down on 11 portfolio companies, providing additional support to help them scale their teams, enhance their product offerings, and accelerate their transatlantic expansion. 👥 We've also been scaling, welcoming the wonderful Allison Graf, Philipp Werner, and Dylan Scully to the team. 🇺🇸 And we've released the definitive guide for European founders expanding to the US, packed with strategic advice from our investors and portfolio founders. It covers everything from where and when to land to who and how to hire (link in the comments for anyone who missed it!). As always, we’re grateful for all the brilliant founders, operators and fellow investors we've had the chance to meet and work with this year, and look forward to connecting with even more of you in 2025! 🧡

Frontline is delighted to be backing Ciaran Doherty and the wider team at Loadar in a $4m round, as they modernise freight procurement and management for super-large enterprises. Nothing makes us happier than seeing two of our investees collaborate as they scale. Big love to the teams at Cloudsmith and Kota – a brewtiful bond 💜 💙
Chief Of Staff @ Cloudsmith | Ops | People | Fixer | Doer | Wife to Paul | Dog mum to Poppy | Airbnb host | Rugby fan | Travel obsessed | Vinyl collector | Owner of x37 pairs of glasses | Guinness connoisseur!
Big shout out to the team over at Kota for their festive hops! 🥳 The team (accidentally on purpose) created their own craft beer, and if that's not a life achievement I dunno what is!! #dreams Some are displayed in Cloudsmith HQ, some in the fridge for the team to judge next week at the Christmas party... and a secret stash in my bag to cheers myself for bagging them! I hear there are socks floating around the Kota office too 😉 Kudos to Luke, Patrick and Deepak for achieving big goals and hiring awesome people at Kota in 2024! To all the Kota team (mainly for donning Cloudsmith swag in the most spectacular way!) and special shout out to our star CS Aine for her drive and craic all year 🥳 I swear I haven't hit the sauce yet - it's genuinely great to partner with teams so culturally and creatively aligned, especially when it serves both of our teams - both in benefits and beer 😚👌🏽 #staffbenefits #globalbenefits #kota #cloudsmith #partnership

Frontline Ventures reposted this
🚀 Yesterday, we had the privilege of hosting a startup ecosystem event in Dublin, a partnership between Stripe and National Treasury Management Agency to bring together founders and investors to share insights, strategies, and stories. A few insights from the panels; 💼 Founder Panel In a vibrant discussion on how to scale your company, founders from Tines ZeroMission Trustap Trustev and Sisu Clinic chaired by Kamael Sugrim from Stripe, shared candid thoughts on the key ingredients for success: - People & Unique Perspectives: Beyond the product, the people your hire are crucial and their unique vantage points matter. Don’t be afraid of getting hiring really talented people to raise the standard. - Ambition & Market Fit: It’s not just about big dreams; it’s about building a company that can scale and capture an addressable, sellable market. - Power of Networks: We saw how founders leverage networks and partnerships to succeed, even in nuanced global markets. - Staying User-First: At the core, prioritizing the user experience and maintaining cultural consistency are foundational, regardless of the market or stage. - Be Sound. The culture of your company might evolve and change as your company grows but your values stay true. “Be Sound” seemed to be a common one bubbling up amongst all our founders 💡 VC & Capital Allocator Panel Our second panel, chaired by Barbara O'Beirne from Stripe, dove deep into what VCs from Delta Partners VC Frontline Ventures Renatus and National Treasury Management Agency look for beyond capital: - Value Beyond Money: Investors highlighted the need for ongoing support in strategy, hiring, and operational expertise—key factors that truly help startups scale. - Ambition & Focus: The importance of a strong strategy, knowing what not to do, and going international from Day 1 were central themes. - Customer-Centricity: Being close to customers and aligning all strategies to prioritize user needs and growth emerged as a top priority. Special thanks to our incredible partners at ISIF and all who joined to make this event a success. Particularly our panelists providing the insights Conor Lyden Pat Phelan Leah O'Dwyer Thomas Kinsella Will Prendergast Amy Neale Mark Flood Brian O Connor. Finally a big thanks to Nick Ashmore and James Brennan, CFA for hosting the event in their offices! The energy in Dublin’s startup scene is incredible—excited to see where these conversations lead! #Startups #VC #Innovation #DublinEcosystem #Stripe #ISIF #FounderInsights #TechIreland

Essential reading for Pre-Seed and Seed founders who are preparing for a fundraise (and the first of many fantastic blog posts by Dylan Scully 👏 🧡 )
As a founder turned VC investor, I’m fortunate to have witnessed both sides of fundraising discussions 🤝 Raising Seed investment is not just hard - it can also be quite an opaque experience for founders trying to see and understand the VC assessment process 🧐 As such, one of my goals is to demystify the VC thought process for early stage founders. In this piece I’ve tried to document my “4 Lessons from working in VC I wish I knew as a Founder”, including: 👩🔬 Team trumps all - but what qualities do investors look for? 🦄 How to articulate a vision that is both precise and BIG. 💎 The importance of delivering a step-change in customer value. 🌎 Why novel insights are your competitive weapon. I would love to hear your thoughts / comments / or complaints on this piece ! And thank you to the entire Frontline Ventures team for their support and insights.
