Brought to life by 40+ individuals, 10 competing agencies, and Creative Ireland, this campaign proves what can be achieved when we work together with a shared vision. The three artist residencies for ‘The Air We Share’ #CreativeClimateAction project in Galway have been announced by Galway Arts Centre and Comhairle Cathrach na Gaillimhe / Galway City Council.  The selected artists are: - Paula McCloskey and Sam Vardy - Christopher Steenson - Leon Butler These artists will engage with the communities of Galway City’s Westside to develop innovative and collaborative arts projects which interpret and respond to the scientific research on air quality and climate conducted by local citizens and climate scientists from the University of Galway. Overwhelmed by Black Friday ads already? Well, we may have the perfect antidote. This year, the Irish advertising industry and Purpose Disruptors have collaborated on something different—an inspiring campaign promoting visions of well-being focused on connection rather than consumption. ✨ “Less Buying, More Being." ✨ “Less Fast Pace, More Open Space.” ✨ "Less Shopping Sprees, More Native Trees." ✨ “Less Office Blues, More Scenic Views.” These messages are captured in nature to offer people moments of calm, swapping sales pitches for a chance to pause, reflect and reconnect. They'll reach a massive 80% of the Irish population in the first-ever country-wide alternative Black Friday campaign, as part of our Good Life 2030 Ireland project. Since 2021, we've been reshaping the narrative of what it means to live a good life through campaigns, research and even an exhibition. This latest campaign serves as a counterpoint to the consumption-driven culture of Black Friday, which saw global sales of $70.9 billion in 2023 (up 8% YoY). Alarmingly, 80% of these goods are predicted to end up in landfills (see the source in comments). Over 40 individuals and 10 leading agencies united to collaborate on this work, creating a unifying call to action:  Let’s advertise a better life. Creative Boardroom: Collaborate4Climate Exhibition was launched last night at the NCAD Gallery, Dublin. One of the successful Creative Climate Action projects and part of the #SharedIsland initiative, Creative Boardroom: Collaborate4Climate is an urgent call for chartered board members / directors and design students to come together to change the climate crisis in a meaningful way. The exhibition serves as a platform for exploring how collective action, intergenerational and across the shared island, can drive this meaningful change. Students from National College of Art & Design and IADT Dún Laoghaire together with Chartered Directors used empathy-driven exercises to share diverse perspectives and gain a deeper understanding of complex climate-related issues and the underlying challenges that prevent behavioral change. “The science says we need to change, citizens say they want change, and the [ad] industry says we need to do more.”.... “so what does it mean to be a leader at this time?” Purpose Disruptors co-founder, Jonathan Wise posed this question to some of Ireland’s most influential advertising leaders during a roundtable discussion. The event explored the relationship between the advertising industry, the climate crisis, and our collective future. The roundtable was informed by research and a report released earlier this year by THINKHOUSE and Purpose Disruptors, capturing the visions of Irish citizens for ‘a good life’ in 2030. The findings revealed a shared aspiration for a future where people feel more connected to themselves, each other, and nature. Findings also showed three-quarters of adults agreed that ‘the Irish advertising industry should help people lead healthy, sustainable lives.’ So, what could the industry become? In this first discussion of its kind in Ireland, we explored the opportunity for the advertising sector to reimagine its role in helping to create the ‘good life’ that citizens dream of. Mammary Mountain is a ground-breaking Immersive experience telling the story of Irish woman Dr Tara Baoth Mooney's journey through breast cancer. The piece premiered at Venice Immersive and London Film Festival this summer and is being shown tomorrow, Friday and Saturday in Carrick On Shannon. The piece is unique in that it utilises both a VR headset and a haptic garment vest. Tickets for the experience are FREE thanks to support from Creative Ireland.
