As we close out the year, The Ireland Funds is proud to announce a round of grants totalling €500,000, awarded to twenty organizations across the island of Ireland providing essential services for children facing poverty, marginalization, and challenging circumstances. We want to thank our donors for helping us support their vital work in areas such as homelessness and family supports, education, youth outreach, mental health care, and food provision. We know that at this time of year, the demands on these services are extremely high. These grants, part of our Heart of the Community Fund, are helping to create communities where every child has the opportunity to thrive. We applaud the bravery of #GiselePelicot and the action of the French judiciary that handed out the maximum sentences for those guilty of rape and sexual assault in this case. This was domestic violence of the most inexcusable kind, and we are heartened that the justice system’s ruling reflected that same understanding. We stand with all victims of Domestic, Sexual, Gender, Sexuality Based Violence and are encouraged by the message on consent that this case has sent. All women deserve to be safe at home and everywhere else, and to equally enjoy and equally participate in society, free from violence and fear. If you are concerned about your safety, or the safety of someone you know, please call our 24/7 confidential #DomesticAbuseService helpline. 📞 091 565 985. If you are in immediate danger, call the Gardaí. 📞 999 or 112.

  • We are so grateful to be one of the beneficiaries of #TheGalwayGivingTree again this year. Florinda and all her elves collected 2,223 gifts, donated by 45 host businesses across Galway. The gifts COPE Galway received are making their way to the children and adults we support across our services, bringing some Christmas cheer at a time which our clients may find more difficult than most. An incredible amount of work goes into organising this initiative every year. We'd like to say congratulations and a big #THANKYOU to Florinda Green, Ronan Healy and the entire The Galway Giving Tree team, and to each and every one of the businesses and their staff that so kindly donated gifts for this year's event. 🎄The Galway Giving Tree is the true meaning of Christmas in action: #community and #goodwill. Thank you.🎄

Thank you to everyone who came out to support the annual COPE Galway Resettlement Service Christmas Fundraiser on Thursday 5th December, raising over €1380. These funds will have a real and positive impact across our Homeless, Domestic Abuse and Senior Support Services. A huge thank you to our musicians who braved the wind and rain to provide fabulous music, to #TigChóilí pub for providing much needed shelter from the elements, and a huge thank you to former #Resettlement employees Mick Brown and Bill Heaney for organising the event. The annual Christmas sing-song is a 15 year strong tradition and remains a special day in the Resettlement Service calendar for staff past and present. #Thankyou to all the generous shoppers who took the time to stop and donate – on behalf of all the people we support we say a heartful thank you and wish you all a Happy Christmas!
