🌟 Exciting New Research Alert! 🌟 Read all about it: https://lnkd.in/eJRe7YPC I'm thrilled to announce the publication of our latest paper on cycloplegic refraction, the gold standard for accurate eye exams in children! Our study focused on young children (ages 6-7) and assessed how the addition of proxymetacaine—a topical anesthetic—can influence the effectiveness and timing of cyclopentolate, a common eye drop used in these exams. 📝 Key Findings: Accurate autorefraction can be conducted as early as 20 minutes post-cyclopentolate, eliminating the traditional 30-minute wait, regardless of proxymetacaine use. With proxymetacaine pre-instillation, accurate measurements can be achieved even faster, after just 10 minutes! 💡 Clinical Impact: For eye care practitioners, this means shorter clinic visits and improved patient comfort, particularly for young children who may experience anxiety during eye exams. Ultimately, our findings could pave the way for more efficient pediatric ophthalmology practices, benefitting both children and practitioners alike. Thank you to our collaborators and participants for making this study possible! #PaediatricOptometry #Cycloplegia #Cyclopentolate #Proxymetacaine
